Wow! That's BANG into the C segment petrol car price range! Hope they charge a 70-80K premium for Diesel. And the diesel power plants should be the 85 bhp and 110 bhp versions with latter making into 4x4 top end variant!

The other news i got was that they are working on a SUV named Senic in the price range of fortuner and launch in Feb 2013.

Also Infiniti will be launched soon too. And they are planning to open a new factory in Gujrat soon for other new lineups.

Rest will update as i know more, especially for Senic.
Hope your source is legitimate.I want to see Renault launch the Duster at that price. However, the Scenic to compete with Fortuner? Renault only has one SUV in their range apart from the Duster and that is the Koleos. Moreover Scenic is a compact MPV while the Grand Scenic is a larger version of the same. I don't see that competing with the Fortuner.

Thats good pricing. Any idea what price the diesel versions start at?

BTW, scenic is an MPV , not suv

But Infiniti to open a factory in Gujrat???
Way to go, it seems more eager than Lexus to do business here. Can't wait for their launch.

A CKD operation could be a possibility but why Gujarat when they have a plant already up and ready at Chennai?

It looks really nice. I think if Renault price it correctly, they would have a winner.

If the source is correct then it would be a steal to get a Renault at that price. The Diesel with a 1 lakh premium would be an absolute winner.

Re: Renault Duster. EDIT : Now confirmed for India!

Agree to your comments on the price and in the spy pics the car looks pretty substantial and wide as well. Googling says the width is 1822mm which is tad more than the scorpio, and given its lower stance, it really feels pretty wide.

P.S - Hate those alloy designs.

Good to see the Duster testing in Chennai. The car looks great from this angle and is massive. The front looks are quite bland and not appealing. Hope Renault makes a few changes to its face.

If priced at the range mentioned, this would be the "Most car per car".

I still have doubts whether they would be able to price it at 6.8 lakhs starting. Heck, thats even cheaper than the Sumo. The car does look quite large unlike many who are comparing it to mini Xylo in size. I don't think it can be termed a mini SUV. So, can they really price it that low when our home grown majors with very high localisations and volumes have not been able to achieve for years is the question. BTW, if they somehow manage something like that then .

Does anybody have any idea about what is the localisation % for the Duster?

That was the exact thought which crossed my mind too.
I thought, I might be wrong on the perspective vision. But looks like its not the case.

I agree. Even the Scorpio is more expensive. Even with 100% localization such a price would be difficult to achieve. Most probably 8+L for petrol version and 10+L for higher powered diesel 4x4 is more realistic.
