Indigo Goes to Russia

Tata Motors is planning to introduce the indigo in russia. Initially the vehicles will be imported from India, but the plan is to go to assembly soon and then 100% localisation. Hope it does better than indica in UK. The competition is Nexia, Accent and Logan.

somehow, i dont like the shape of Indigo that lot. when u make a sedan outof a Hatch, u hafta make the Hatch such a way that it will accomodate a sedan mix.

the Indigo clearly shows its been converted from the Hatch to a Sedan. but i think, Russia, is also a country with people's economies like the indians. so a Sedan priced very closed to other Hatches, should be able to do good in Russia.

by NExia, do u mean the Daewoo Nexia!? i thought that was Extinct!

I wanted to put a question on this to understand the people mind over there.

Also wants to find out whether Indica and Indigo has similar interior space specs. Iam under the impression that Indigo has better inside space than indica.

Indigo is a much better looking car than the Indica.. The wheel-base of the Indigo is longer than the Indica, providing better space inside.. The boot is the best in its class.. And the interiors are also fine.. The rear-seat comfort and legroom is excellent.. The Tdi engine simply rocks.. The indigo to me is a complete car..

Introduction of SX series in their website is very impressive.

I dont like the finish of the earlier indigo's. The new one seems to be promising in the web

Is it going to be climate tested? Russian winters are pretty bad! But that vehicle should do wonders for India's image. I bet it will be head and shoulders over all the Ladas and Zils.

I feel otherwise. Indica is much better looking than indigo.
According to me major problem for indigo is its looks, I hate to see Indigo's forcefully attached(to indica) like boot.
Another thing, Petra's boot is bigger than that of Indigo.

Nexia exists in Russia. It is sold by GM under nexia brand. IIRC the optra is also a nexia in disguise.

Good move. I think it will find much better acceptance in Russia than in UK. Russians must be familiar with TATA after watching all those Raj Kapoor movies.

Good point! I am sure this question must must have been raised in the TATA boardroom but only they know how they have dealt with the problem. IMO, its too obvious a problem to not have been sorted out. And yes, i too expect it to beat the Ladas and Logans if reliability is not an issue.

They'll probably use a bigger starter and battery for these. I can't imagine it'll be much colder than Kashmir where TATA has been selling vehicles for long.

NA diesels can be hard to start due to the extremely high CRs.
