Launch is near, but why are there no pics anywhere (except for the horrendous concept design).

I really hope they have overhauled the entire interior. We'll have to wait till December to see though.

Thanks tj123! Nice read this one!

A bit OT & surprising! A person having visited India 60 times has not seen Taj Mahal & that too when he claims to have travelled across length & breadth of country!

Thanks for the link @tj123, a very nice read and makes me wait eagerly for the Etios, but hope it isn't a disappointment like it was when they unveiled it in the Auto Expo.
Well , Noritake san's dream of scratchless cars on indian street is still a WAY off.

I didn't think it was well written at all. Reads like one of those "case studies" that were thrust on us in B-school. Most likely a paid-for puff piece. And makes big generalisations about "Indian drivers" that I found condescending and a little insulting.

Seems good 0-100 speed, good mileage, seats 5, is light, has a big enough engine, and comes in a wide variety of colours. Now for Toyota to show us the interiors.

Impressed !!

To be honest, I am impressed with the specification

Technical Spec
  • 1494 cc, 4 cyclinders, Petrol Engine
  • Power 90 ps@5600 rmp
  • Torque 132 Nm@3000 rpm
  • 0-100 : 11 seconds
  • FE - 18-21 kmpl (claimed , not from ARAI)
Others
  • Boot space 595 liter compared to 440 in swift dzire and 510 in logan
Variants
  • 4 variants - J,G,V,Vx
Best is they are comparing it with Dzire, Manza and Logan. That means pricing should start from 5L onwards. This is great.

Yes, only have to look how the interiors are.
The performance is impressive if we take into account the claimed FE figures(if it's true).
But they didn't remove the frowning chrome grille.
Am all okay for chrome, but the way it's styled makes it frowning, grumpy looking.

hi guys, saw this car in flesh on the pune - kolhapur highway.

1. Side angle -ditto Logan
2. Uninspiring looks - way behind the competition
3. Superfast - the driver was on a hell ride.
4. Console in the centre, nice white illumination.
5. Punny tyres.
6. Noisy engine - i think this was due to driver revving it like hell.
7. Compact car - i doubt the inner space.
8. Cost- if you pay for the car and not the toyota badge- you should pay amount equivalent to logan.

Conclusion - toyota should have done better with the design considering the current era of cars in market.

Edit : The car looks good in the picture above but not in flesh.

I wonder who are these people for whom they are building a car which is engineered to just fulfill one wish, an enclosed space which can move. Forget good handling, performance etc.

It will also be interesting to see how they will handle the initial manufacture and distribution. Hope VW can learn a lot.
