Looking at the new pictures above and the speedo, it seems ARIA top speed will be at 120-130 as it max's out at 140.
Assuming that you read it wrong.........

In India we have KM (Kilometers), not Miles

Tops at 220 Kms actually.

@dadu & @aerohit : the Aria's speedo is marked for both MPH & Kmph.

@Aerohit, while the speedo is marked for 220, the top speed will be less than that. A 160-180 kmph could the tops, after electronics limitation.

Just back from the expo and the Tata representative told me that there would be 4 variants of the Aria, all in 2WD as well as AWD. This makes the total number of offerings to 8. He also told me that the lowest trim will be called Eleganze. If the highest trim is available between 14 and 15 lacs as suggested by some, then considering 60 to 80 thousand difference between two variants, the base variant might come at around 9 to 9.5 lac ex showroom. Seems to be a gud deal.

Thanks for correcting it, I read it wrongly. 140 was the Mph and I read it as Kmh.

What else would they be changing?, apart from ensuring the engine is Euro IV compliant

Guyz..........looks like those rumors of 200bhp engine are true!!!!!!

Tucked in a corner behind one of the low floor busses was this

Pics: Tata Motors unveil the Aria (Indicruze) at the Auto Expo 2010. Video: Pg 52-specsheet.jpg

The spec sheet reads :

4 cylinders, 3 Liter displacement

16 valves, Turbocharged and intercooled

Max power 193ps

Max torque 470 Nm

High pressure common rail fuel system

Euro 4 emissions, upgradeable to euro V and above

After treatment system for EURO IV and beyond

Available in 2 versions - for GVW greater than 3.5 tonnes and less than 3.5 tonnes

......which means, this engine's gonna be available in the NG Safari and the ARIA in the future. The ARIA zooming ahead dramatically, posted by someone in this thread's earlier avatar might have been the one with this engine in test.

AND ITS A 6 SPEED GEARBOX

If you mean just cars then yes it would be. But i think commercial vehicles are already in the market with GPS system.

I am hoping Tata will price it in between 7.99 (below 8) to all the way up to 13.99 and all the goodies which everyone is talking about will be in the highest version.

I am sure everyone is excited to test drive this beast beauty.

It seems like in every auto expo tata is taking all the limelight. Last time it was nano and this time aria.

What do you think? Can the engine sit inside Aria / Safari bay?

Certainly. Otherwise no point in mating it to a 6 speed gearbox.
