I'm based in Dubai and work for a car company. I can tell for a fact that this is one mean looking car and can sell in fairly large numbers in the middle east.
TM needs to make a couple of changes though:
1) Plonk a 3 - 3.5 ltr, 200-250 bhp petrol engine (fuel's cheap)
2) Fix an auto tranny (manuals dont sell well)
3) Convert from RHD to LHD

If only these could be done!

PS: Tatas were working on an auto transmission but not sure what became of it.

Good Work Dippy...car looks fab.Looking good, hope the quality remains good on production models.pricing wont be issue as its a Tata, surely the pricing would be around Innova.

Dadu,

Maybe I'm biased by the current crop of SUVs in the market, but the Aria looks more like a MUV than a SUV for the following reasons:

- Hood is not as flat as is should be in a SUV
- Ground Clearance is not sufficient. 190 to 200mm GC is like de-riguer.
- Approach / Departure angle is definitely not sufficient to go off the shoulder, let alone off-road.

A superb design, though, from Tata!

Yea seems very cool. I like the looks. Now if there are no quality issues then I can definitely consider this over the Scorp. Wonder what the price would be since that is obviously a major factor. The cheap(ish) interiors actually make me optimistic that it wont be priced way out of our reaches. Well done Tata. Would really appreciate more details - technical and monetary ones.

but if janta were waiting for this then im little disappointed. nothin to cheer about. tata safari was a icon. but the rear profile looks very dull. with so many options dippy listed but headlamp assembly looks like manza n vista. y tata y. with all this package if they had some aggressive looks they would have been a winner. TATA this was not i was waiting for

Contrary to many I did not like this ARIA that much. As a first impression this is big but looks could have been better. Just 2 images I am posting again from Dippys message. Look at the umnnn how can I say, above front wheels, it looks that shape is not proper over there, something (metal) is not in line with the body it has just come out somehow.
I agree with you. I have seen a lot of Swifts which were scratched exactly in the area that you are pointing out (even in Swift it bulges out a bit, but definitely not as much as in ARIA). Yes, it is a matter of getting used to it, but this (to me) looks like pushing it a bit too far.

I had a Chrysler Town and Country van when I was in US with fold flat seats and my wife still pines for that one - now this looks very similar (in concept and execution - not looks) and wifey will be happy seeing this !!

This car is HUGE. On first impression, it feels longer than an Innova

Tatas should do something serious about their logo. On this majestic car, it appears out of place to me .

Congrats Tata on going two steps furter by unveiling the ARIA
Looks massive and imposing, but the indicators in the headlights look a bit garish(a lighter amber maybe),
while the rear looks like a wagon, but still good(the areas around the rear lights and rear quarter panel could do with a liitle streamlining.
On the interiors ,no fault functional with good storage spaces and also the dashboard, unlike other useless designs can holdthings.
Only if they launched a RWD version with an auto box, would sweeten the deal.
An auto box with more powerful engine like "diesel head" said hould make it a success abroad.

I wish they have a 2WD base variant with ABS priced at Innova G level. Then its game on.
Also a question regarding the 6 airbags. Are these for rear passengers on all rows? Or are they side(curtain) airbags for only the front seat occupants. Considering some of these might be chauffeur driven, I am not sure if people will plonk in money for the chauffeur's safety alone.
