0-100 for Punto 90bhp is 11.9s for the international versions but then it all depends on the gearing FIAT decides for the indian version. With the gearing same, addition of 10-15 bhp could shave the timing by 1.5- 2 secs.

GP Sport looks cool. Hope they give options on the decals. The alloys seems to be right off the GP Abarth.
This adds more to my confusion for the next car.

So when is the T-Jet getting to dealerships? When do we get to floor the gas pedal?

I had seen similar gearbox on top end Acura models in US. One of our clients, who is car crazy and wants to have more control on the car, opted for this than regular auto-tranny.
All Acuras have paddle shifters (on Type-S models) or a gear shift box similar to the one above (on non Type-S) as the default option on AT models. There's no "regular" auto tranny.

Talked to the local dealer, seems like T-Jet would be releasing soon but no idea as to when Punto Sport will be released.

@ Arethusa : Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the Auto Expo coverage.

that is a common preassumtion made by most of us by equatiing PS and BHP as the same. but yes here your concern is obvious as 86PS can never be 90 BHP.

GTO. It is a common error. And to compound this confusion, the Manza has the same VGT Multijet but rates it at 90. It is a different issue that it fails to match the fixed turbo Dzire performance.

Thought FIAT itself called the new Punto, Punto Sport 90 HP!
Moreover calling this new version Punto, 'Sports' for just an increase of 10 BHP is being over enthusiastic. And thought Fiat might have figured out calling it Punto 90 would be better than Fiat 84.8 (sounds like FM channels) Like how Raul Gandhi became Rahul Gandhi for the Indians.

I don't think sports version introduction comprises of just increase of bhp. There are other additions that the manufacturer is ready to provide, which are, different alloys, leather seats, sunroof, interior panel trim, body decals etc..

i totally agree, sports version does not mean only addition of bhp but ornamental and more functional features too which makes the punto into a new avtar called sport. and i guess 85 bhp under the hood is good enough for sporty punto.

I hate to come back again and again to this topic. But if you think you can beat a Linea MJD with a DZire DDiS in performance, you are absolutely mistaken. So will be in case of a VGT Punto too. I bet.

EDIT: Let me also mention that DZire has better power to weight ratio in spite of having fixed geometry, because DZire is also a very light vehicle. However, as you keep adding more passengers and luggage, power to weight ratio of DZire will drop gradually.

BTW, I have been longing to measure 0-100 in my Linea. The only place I can think of in Bangalore is NICE road. I'm wondering if someone has an instrument to measure accurately. If nothing at all, I'm planning to crudely measure 0-105 on speedo (which is 0-100) using stop watch a co-passenger beside me. It will give a rough idea if my experience had given me a wrong impression of Linea's performance. Until then, I'm just unwilling to accept what are published in megazines. Sorry, it sounds very immature and very obstinate stand. But my experience tells me otherwise.
