I mean, the Scorpio isn't exactly an F40 or RR Phantom!

Precisely.

Mahindra at times forget the fact that they still have a long way to go. And the Scorpio whichever angle we look at it did not change the way we look at cars!

Was it on regular 4x2 version or currently launched 4x4.

Came across this news stating that the new IMO the World SUV will be launched in the end of next Financial year.

NEW DELHI: Domestic auto major Mahindra & Mahindra on Friday said it will launch a premium sports utility vehicle in the country by the end of the next financial year, which will eventually be exported to the US.

The company is investing Rs 700-800 crore to develop the product, which will fill the vacuum above Scorpio in the SUV segment.

"We are moving up in premiumness beyond Scorpio. The product is being developed keeping in mind global markets," Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) President (Automotive) Pawan Goenka told.

The company would roll out the product from its newly constructed facility at Chakan, which is expected to hit the Indian roads within an year from now, he added.

"We are investing Rs 700-800 crore in developing the new SUV and this investment is made considering the export market also. At first it will be sold in India, but eventually go to the US after many years," Goenka said.

He, however, declined to give details about the expected price of the new premium SUV.

M&M had committed an investment of Rs 2,500 crore for setting up a new facility at Chakan, which would have a total installed capacity of three lakh units a year.

Goenka said the company would roll out 3-4 new products from the Chakan facility, but declined to give details.
So where will Scorpio go ? Xylo will take over it ?

Premium as in beyond the Scorpio segment. Expect a 15L+ price tag.

Maybe they've a detailed account on how they've been trying for 5 years to fix the jumpy suspension and brakes.

Heck, the NANO deserves one.

While I'd be happy to be proved wrong, I don't think a market exists today that will pay 15 lakhs for a Tata (Aria) or Mahindra (premium SUV). Traction control and all the other goodies are nice to have, yet both of these brands lack a premium feel (fit, finish, dynamics) and image. I hope they don't go overboard with their "premium" vehicle dreams. Even a Maruti can't sell an otherwise competent 16 lakh Vitara. Nor could Hyundai ever manage to move the excellent Sonata. The GV & Sonata, irrespective of segment, are products atleast 10 - 20 years ahead of Mahindra & Tata in quality, refinement and sheer product engineering.

Mahindra or TATA to try pushing their vehicles at 15L ? Look at the special edition Scorpio with all bling alloys (they follow this model alloys from Legend), Just painting with golden cream won't help Mahindra to reach that high pricing. I guess people in mahindra are in day light dreaming status

Mahindra seems to be exploiting their success with the Scorpio to the max, just as Bajaj seems to be doing with the Pulsar. What they should realize that there is a limit to which this can be done.

For all their effort with the Xylo, they rendered it with ridiculous styling, and thereby shot themselves in the foot.

Perhaps, Mahindra and Tata should think about launching separate premium brands (something like Acura, Infiniti or Lexus)...

While everyone here is crying about that ugly walrus teeth, Mr. Mahindra has gone ahead and added BLING to it in their special edition. WOW. Great!

When will they realize that their alloys look HORRENDOUS?

M&M must make the A/T is offered across the LX and SLE variantse as an option.

The pricing of Scorpio 4x4 VLX AT ABS Airbags @ 12lakhs is truely expensive by 20% for all the crudeness and quality shortfalls in the design and fit finish execution found in the vehicle.

Justful pricing of Scorpio 4x4 VLX AT ABS Airbags should be less than 10 Lakhs ex show room.

Anyway Anand mahindra and Pawan Goenka are immensely pleased and convinced of Scorpio as a product by sheer number it sells and what we got a Coffee table book on Scorpio .

Hey Bagwan protect those dare go near those Coffee tables from sting of Scorpio

Now, Maruti please don't get enraged/encouraged by M&M's act and release a coffee table book on Alto just because of Alto's 20K units monthly sales
