What is the story behind this- who built it, based on what?? Seems interesting although the power output seems tag low.

There is zero similarity between the coupe that Hyundai used to make earlier (under various names Scoupe/Coupe/Tiburon etc) and Genesis Couple. The only thing it shares is a slight resemblance in the looks department.

The older coupe was FWD and basically drove like a dog.

The Genesis coupe is RWD, built on a shortened Genesis sedan platform and is gunning for the Infiniti G35 - thats how good it is. In fact the 3.8 Genesis Coupe with Track Pack is sometimes compared on even keel with the Z350 and Boxster.

Hyundai should bring both the Genesis to India and price sensibly. These could be nice halo cars for the brand.

Genesis is NA COTY 2009 - I guess that proves where it stands compared to the competition.

I realised that i haven't yet put in my 2c on the Hyundai stall - so here it is :

From the car showcase, this grille was one of the things that really caught my eye. Nice to see a more organic design than the standard scructured grilles that are the norm. Cool little design innovation.

Other than that however, the car area was fairly plain jane.

However, KUDOS to Hyundai for putting up this HUGE 2nd stall for teaching kids about road safety - (probably as big, or bigger than their car exhibit area).

Two points on taking this further :
1) Would be great if auto manufacturers put up something like this as a PERMANENT setup in big cities. Or sponsor / encourage activity in the cities that already have parks like this : eg. Mumbai Link, Chennai Link
2) Target a slightly older age-group, perhaps invite schools to bring kids (6th grade?) for a field trip.

I felt like i was walking through the dorms of an institution for the mentally challenged at the Hyundai display with Nurse Ratchitts at every corner waiting to lock me back in my room.
