Simply because its not economically feasible. If you ask me, the reviews and roadtests of magazines like ACI are several notches higher than TBhp's reviews. And the reason is simple. This is a free service. There, you pay a 100 bucks. You can't have everything

I'm not saying to imitate others. Its should be different. We have lots of reviews already here + DIY+ travelogue +scoops and tribute stories like sidindica etc... (and lot others)

Also we can get some interviews like "Dippy" does.

Plus as a customer what we think about the policies of automobile industry, Un-ethical practices of manufactures , dealer of the month etc... few things which we can add in to this.

I know there are persons in this forum who already working in a magazine, and graphic designing etc, so if we can get them together here it would be wonderful.

I'm sure that it will mark a record downloads.

Hmm I see what you mean. The question is, do the mods have the time to do it?

Its not only the MODs. A collective effort from each who wants to make this happen.

1. Firstly all wanted to know whether the Admin likes this idea.
2. If yes create a thread to know the response of the users in this forum about this.
3. If positive invite all who wants to contribute to the magazine . Contribution in the sense of who can handle the posts in the magazine division like,

a. Editor
b. Co- Editor
c. Head - Writer
d. Head - Artists
e. Head - Proof reader
f. Assistant - Writer
g. Assistant - Artists
h. Assistant - proof reader
i. writers
j. Artists
k. Quality assurance team
l. Magazine Compiler
m. Cover design

etc... and a dedicated page like http://www.team-bhp.com/magazine

what you think

This thread is actually going OT.

However, I would like to say that I was reading one of my archived BSM editions and I realized that although I voted for Autocar India on this thread (chiefly because of Auto India days and Hormazd), I do consider BSM to be a different kind of magazine.

I believe they have the most passionate petrolheads and their storytelling abilities are very good (crystal clear English too) . They also come up with these lots of innovative articles. I'll digged up an article that Bijoy wrote about the Fiat Linea, it was so much more than an automotive journalist's article. Check it out folks:

Fiat Linea and Fiat Grande Punto - Frozen in Time

The best bit is, even though I cited Bijoy's article here, I enjoy reading stuff from all of them (Bijoy, Srinivas, Rohin, Pablo, Kyle etc.).

Edit: Just realized that I detest Overdrive and Sirish Chandran's way with words. Kind of like turned automobile journalism into a weird mix of tabloid and hoohaa journalism.

Zigwheels & Autobild are my picks for subscribing.

AutocarIndia from the newsstand based on the contents for the given issue.

2. Autocar India - for good reviews ( I hate too many ads )

Oh wow! And i thought Overdrive was the best. I have been reading OD magazines on and off for the past 3 years now. But now that 65% of BHPians prefer Autocar, i have planned to actually read a few of their articles. As for Top Gear, its a fun magazine to read and love the part where they have articles about motoring from different countries. Those are real fun to read!

May I ask the specific points on which the reviews and roadtests of magazines are higher than TBHP reviews? Does a free service (I'd tend to term it passionate hobby) have to be inferior? IMO, I would say it's the opposite. The vested interests magazines have with automakers vis-a-vis the finacial dependence and reliance on ads reduces the credibility. TBHP on the other hand, I find to be totally impartial when I read the test drives. As a member mentioned, there are no reviews in magazines which are not positive at start (inflate positives and only 'mildly' mention negatives, if at all) and then lambast the same product when it fails in the market later. And with TBHP, you don't even pay those 100 bucks.
PS- If a TBHP member says something out of the line, others would be quick to jump on him. This debate on an open forum has a quality like the ancient roman senate and I wouldn't get it even for 1000 bucks in any magazine. But online magazine with TBHP? Why do we need it when we already have the info here?

@Delta Wing

It is as if you have read my mind verbatim and given shape to my thoughts in the form of your post. I could not agree with you more. Bravo, very well said.
