Scorpio: Special Edition (1000 only)

A Special Edition of the Scorpio was unveiled by Mahindra. It gets the trim treatment with European leather upholstery (tan & beige), special trimmings and finishes, premium fabrics and high quality accessories. Has chrome alloys, LCD tv, better speakers, "Dual SRS Airbags in the front seats and high-gloss wood finished central bezel", checkered flag stickers on the exteriors and like the Xylo: Celebration edition only a 1000 of these will be made. Assuming its a top-selling product with more than 3000 Scorpios selling per month, this LE should be sold out quickly.

Currently this seems to be the only good looking product from mahindra. This will sell like hot cakes.
May be Mahindra is researching if people are willing to go for this kinds of product and then they'll launch a new variant similar to this one.

seems to be a good option from M&M ,but I feel dual tone in dash looks weird and some what doesn't looks good.
What's the price difference from high variant scorpio

Thats good news. I am sure the price should be above the Rs12L that one pays for the 4X4 A/T Scorpio.Thats because its a special edition with all those goodies.

limited editions are the best way to clear extra stock lying in your yard!

add few cosmetics here and there and volla you have 1000 fools to buy the same stuff at a higher price!

I really don't wanna start a Scorpio v Safari bashing game but couldn't resist to point out that apart from stickers and Micro Hybrid technology, Safari VX has pretty much everything boasted in Scorpio limited edition.

Does anyone else thing that the original Scorpio (other than the rear light clusters) was a better looker than the current one? Please don't say that the headlights are better (they are still the same with clear lenses and different internals).

I think the current one is over-styled with too much plastic cladding and overall too garish for my tastes. The simpler Safari is a much cleaner and better (if older) design. Though I must say that I am not a fan of the side claddings in that too, the first generation Safari had the right mix of plastic to metal.

@Amartya:

I totally agree with you on this. The original Scorpio/Bolero had a very simple and purposeful look like the Safari. The M&M Designers got trained by Dilip Chabria and they went berserk on the Scorpio/Bolero and all the bling/skirts/ornaments started to show up on these vehicles. The Safari still maintains it classy and upscale look. The only flaw I feel in the Safari's design is that the D-Pillar are is a bit awkward compared to the front of the vehicle.

If you look at the Vista/Aria/Safari etc, Tata definitely has a nice design team or they get help from Idea or whatever the firm is in UK. One monstrosity from the tata stable is the Sumo Grande. All they needed to do was take the Xenon and add a body over the load bay area and it would have made a fine SUV.

Guys, one thing for sure, the earlier scorpio's were much masculine! The newer breed is getting too many out of the place cuts/curves/stickers/flaps and offcourse the 'walrus tooth'!! I for one-certainly like the looks of my earlier Crde slx than the mHawk vlx.

+1 to what surya says. Even though I don't own a beast I regularly see it.the old CRDe2.6 slx was wonderful.needless to say it looked like a beast compared to the present scorp.

Atleast Mahindra should avoid the temptation to follow the uniquely Indian auto culture of specially-stickered editions.

what is micro hybrid here? is it name given for special edition or it has some hybrid component!

the sticker cutting is bad. IMO they could have painted it dual tone like Indica Vista anniversary adition instead of cheap sticker cutting. sticker have cheap after market feel (especially one on bumper)
