EEk.... Honda goes crazy now and then. Is this available immediately or is it going to take some time?

What is this concept with Honda ? Only recently did they do away with the City E and why would they launch it back ? Am sure Honda has priced the current 'E' version much higher than the discontinued E version. How come they didn't do away with the alloys ?

Buying this car minus
  • stereo
  • driver's seat height adjust
  • keyless entry
  • body coloured door handles and mirrors
  • beige interiors (E has grey interiors)
  • mudflaps
is a pointless exercise. Why bother?. The two Japanese auto majors and the Japanese in general can never understand the market here and their 'paisa vasool' local partners don't give a damn either. The very fact that these companies have chosen the local partners they have is proof of extreme bad judgement and lack of understanding of the Indian auto market. Further proof?. How about Mitsubishi's tie up with HM?.

Seems like they are running short of these parts OR feeling the heat from other manufacturer's competitive pricing.

Though i like the idea of grey instead of beige, easy to maintain and getting too boring seeing the beige these days. Pics though it shows beige?

With no offence to nickatnite (i am just using his question to state my view)

I see this re-launch by Honda as just a positioning exercise by Honda trying to justify the price of ANHC 1.5 SMT & VMT.

There are lot of people who wanted options in the ICE (Honda had none in SMT/VMT), Few wanted improved security (again honda had only one option integrated security in SMT/VMT), a lot of people did not like the beige interiors and anyway upgraded with seat covers etc.

So the marketing guys at Honda seems to thought of this re-launch where they can hit two birds with one stone, present a low end option as well as justify the SMT/VMT positioning.

Whether to buy this option or not, is left to the buyer.
Anyway Honda knows that Indians want their vehicles with all bells and whistles.

Does not make sense, why will someone skip these when after market hassle will be greater than getting it as is.

Rs.50K minus these features. Looks interesting for me, especially when the additional costs for ANHC gets as the only hesitation point for purchase decision. Point-2,4,5, does not matter to me, remaining stuffs can be bought at Rs.20k & I save straight 30K

Whats it with Manufacturers thinking Drivers Seat Height Adjust as some sort of exclusive feature. Its like making Seat Belts as exclusive features only in high end variants. I dont get it. Drivers Seat Height Adjust shud be default. Not to point out just Honda, its the case with most manufacturers in India.

I guess ABS and Airbags are available in this version. In this way, Honda is sensible than other car makers.

What I would like Honda to do is, create another E-variant but with an Autobox. In which case a fantastic Auto-gearbox car will be available at just under 10Lakhs.

Only the Civic gets alloys for the 'S' and 'V' Versions AFAIK.

WRT City, only the 'V' version gets alloys.

Yeah, i agree. I was disappointed when they removed the Autobox vairant with the S version.

E + A/T with Stereo outside fitted. I am one happy customer. I hate beige interiors anyways.

Why is it that they are removing something basic like the mudflaps? It is a freebie given by the dealers for almost all the cars we buy!

A stripped down variant makes great sense for two target profiles:

(a) want honda city at the cheapest possible price since they're desperately stretching their budget and don't care about features. Just want the car.

(b) people who want to personalise it to the hilt and potentially even end up spending V spec money. I mean personalised ICE, custom leather, custom alloys etc. Makes great sense to buy cheapest possible and work upwards from there.

Everything except "driver's seat height adjust" can be retro-fitted and/or customized with the dealer in less than 47k IMO. Good deal for those who don't care about seat height adjustment and grey interiors.

Even better is the indication that Honda is feeling the heat and willing to try for more vfm pricing.
