Skoda to reprice Octavia and Launch new car at around Rs. 3 lacs

As per the following article on economictimes:

Skoda plans four new launches by next year- Automobiles-Auto-News By Industry-News-The Economic Times

Skoda Octavia would be moved to the C segment. I read something similar in the Times of India as well. They mentioned that the Octavia would be priced to compete with the Linea, City, Sx4, etc.

Also from the same ET article - Skoda will launch a new small car that will be priced arond Rs. 3,00,000. Guess OTR would be under Rs. 4,00,000.

Wouldn't surprise me if they repriced the Laura as well and bought it to Rs. 11,00,000 (ex - showroom) or so for the base edition.

Well, thats we have discussed in the similar thread.

After looting to 30,000 indian customers (poor octavians), skoda is now putting the real price of Octavia. (in the range of ANHC, SX4, Fiesta, linea etc.).

.
where in the article does it say it would compete with Linea , city etc ?

if i read it right, SKODA WOULD LAUNCH THE REVAMPED OCTAVIA IN THE MID MARKET SEGMENT AND MOVE IT AWAY FROM ENTRY C+ SEGMENT WHERE IT IS NOW

this to me sounds like getting the OCTAVIA a segment higher

It was mentioned in today's Times of India. They said it would be priced in the C Segment between Rs. 7,50,000 and Rs. 10,00,000.

The Guys at skoda seem confused. At least the PR guys.

the 3L car news is good, as well as the fabia estate news, but...

Had expected a revised (as in reduced price Octavia) but the way it is written it seems that skoda is placing it closer to civic pricing.

It may be a PR blooper, or someone has gone bonkers or they are referring to the Laura as the new Octavia, which too could be ok to some extent.

Lets give them benifit of doubt and watch what actually happens.

What is the point of launching cars when SKODA cannot provide quality after sales service to the customer.

thanks for posting Aston - but even this article does not seem to suggest the OCTAVIA will be priced lower. but if that is indeed the case, you can expect some major cost cutting on interiors, engine and other specs and in all probability this is under pressure from VW so as to make space for the JETTA which probably would be the brand used in the 10-15lakh price band

Well, the same story was reported by ACI earlier. From what I read from the ET, the Octavia is going to be phased out in two years, and its replacement now appears to be aimed at a segment lower.

The Octavia is not phased out everywhere: it is still sold all over Europe (though not in UK, I think) as "Octavia Tour." It is somewhat a classic shape and design which somehow doesn't look outdated. It is sold with the same 1.9TD Diesel engine along with the 1.8 Turbo & 1.6 petrols.

It's sad news to hear the good old Octy is going to be stopped. Introduced us Indians to superior build quality, Diesel economy, prestige, and a frontal appearance that some folks mistook for a Mercedes at first. It evokes a feeling similar to M800, Esteem and the Qualis, a true trend setter.

I know many Mercedes owners(still) using Octavias for daily trips, and even some W124 E class owners buying Octavias to replace their cars.
