Well, that is correct- we had done an analysis a while back about the production capacities and more importantly - their utilizations - maruti was at about 112% installed capacity - the only logical deduction was that the production plant was also building CKDs. Another intersesting fact we observed was that no one company other than maruti (112%) and Hyundai (87%) were close to even 50% of installed capacity. Ford was the worst at something like 17%. (I will need to reconfirm the exact numbers as this was a study we did two years ago on historic data).

Also - you book a car - pay money. The company / dealer can block the money -and obviously get interest. So the question is - has anyone gotten in touch with the company to actually check if there is a "waiting period" or is it a scenario created by the dealer.

One Maruti dealer has promised to pay interest if the waiting period crosses 30 days.

FYI, Maruti promises to give interest of 4.25 p.a from the day of booking to the date of information of delivery less 10 days. This is indicated on the back side of the booking form. Most dealers cheat customers about this amount as many are not aware.

On the other hand its too bad that Maruti is still clueless about meeting demand for Swift and now SX4. May be they want people to go really desperate to get their car, so that people really know what their car is worth .

Cheers!

Let others launch their Hatches in Diesel version then see how the waiting period changes in cash discounts.
