Attn i20 owners! Hyundai's installing a Rubber Cover to protect the main ECU Cable

Dear BHPians

Deep Hyundai (Okhla) free of cost placed a Rubber Cover to protect the main ECU Cable from weather hazards such as dust and moisture, which seems to be a result of Hyundai's Notification. I appreciate Hyundai's initiative but feel they should personally inform all owners.

My i20 Asta is June 2009 make and I believe other i20's purchased in the same period may also require this cover. I also request members who've purchased i20 recently check if it's coming factory fitted or not.

Attaching the pics for your kind reference and please convey this to your Non-BHPian friends.

Warm Regards
Tanveer Singh

Safin, 1313, BreakHorsePower, Wildon (Man, you're i20 updates are great), Fusion123 and Karizma9292 you all are welcome.

Shadow, it seems Hyundai must have got some complaints or rather it can be a Poka Yoke (Error Proofing) initiative. It's indeed great that manufacturers are considerate in the post-sales period. I suppose the new batch of i20 should be coming with a Factory-fitted ECU cover but it's better to check for the same.

Moreover, the Red cable which you see has got nothing to do with the ECU cable in question. Thanks to Safin for asking, which led me to edit this post. This Red cable is actually the Horn Relay Cable as my i20 is having Twin Tone Hella horns.

PICS without Cover

The pics below have been taken from two i20 Asta's, the White one being August 2009 purchase and the Blue one being Oct-Nov 2009 purchase. This is how the cable acutally is.

Ok i took the Delivery of My i today and among the first things that I checked was this, but sadly the rubber cover wasn't there and even the 40kmph automatic locking feature wasn't enabled

When I inquired with the dealer about these two things, they told Me that they had no clue about them and only the Service center guys will be knowing about this and since it is free so I can anyways get it fitted during my first service

I have driven about 40+ kms today and the First Impressions are awesome, everyone commented how spacious and luxurious it felt from inside.
A Few not so good things that I found in this period
-No Alarm system. Everyone just kept on inquiring about the alarm system, since there was no click-click sound when unlocking, and later when i told there was no alarm system then they would end by saying You paid 6.2lac+ and no alarm thats worrying.
-Pathetic Horn (it sounds like something has choked it)
-In-cabin Illumination at the back of driver seat.
-Long Clutch Travel.

Will post a detailed review with lots of Pictures later on

Congrats Safin. For the horn, when you go for your First Service tell those guys to add a Double Horn Relay to your car and then get a good aftermarket Dual Horn like Hella, Fiamm Minda etc. Drive safe and create a new thread for your car along with pics.

flyingspur had mentioned that i20 already has a relay for those of you who want a dual horn arrangement and he was getting one fixed last week, now waiting to hear from him on it

Now regarding the Rubber Cover for i20, i feel Hyundai should intimate all the i20 owners about it, otherwise how would one get to know
