a great article sid, thanks a lot mate. it is really an interesting thread for a scorpio fan & a mahindra admirer like me.
Sid,
A truly nostalgic trip down your life road! WOW! Great penchant and memories to pen down!
Reading through your article, I realize that one never know's what can touch our lives/soul to grow up owning them. I still remember by grandfather's Willys 4X4-military green & Ambassador-black from my childhood days. That Willys is one beast I always loved a lot and ended up buying a Scorpio 6 years back( to satisfy my creature comforts in today's polluted world) whose genes I date it to my Grandad's Willys!!
Keep writing Sid, Awesome to read! Thank you.
I never knew M&M once stood for Mahindra & Mohammed. Great info!

+1 . I am converted safari fan too :)
@Sid, one of the best reading and one of the best story of the Beast coming to life. The three parts which you have written have already become 3 serials. So please pen down the next part of the story. Never knew the whole history of THE BEAST called "SCORPIO" and also that in 1948 M&M was called as Mahindra & Mohammed.Great info.Thanks.
Scorpio is truly a legend. It turned M&M around big time! However, i do find them a bit bouncy in the back seat! But then again, with a Scorpio, you dont care about the back seat much eh!
good one SID
enjoyed reading this tribute

Interesting. Didn't know about the "NEW, ground up engine for scorpio".
Folklore has it that this was not a new engine designed from ground up but their existing tractor/jeep engine that was tweaked/reworked (XDP/XD3P family)
As someone from JT said, all engines in M&M come from either the fathers side or the mothers side of the "engine family tree" -- either XDP or DI side.
Would like some knowledgeable jeepers to share their views here and provide more inputs.
Sid, I just love reading your threads.
Btw is some of the info you posted available on the coffee book table of Mahindra.
You the man, keep the info coming.
Sid Sir, your posts are always a great great read, you know, straight from the heart.
I too am a Scorpio lover, have never even driven one, but the long trips I have done in Scorpios (as a passenger) are times I always cherish.
The purposeful nose, high rear, the graceful lines, are all to die for.
As you very well said,
Nothing Else Will Do
Wake up SID ... lol: ....just kiddin
Great Write up SID , ... eagerly waiting for the rest...!!!:D
Cheers
Raghu,

Saar please elaborate and don't just make cryptic statements
Nice thread, brings back the memories of when the car came into the market and its ads with the blue scorpio in it (never understood that color choice). Also the multiple test drives that I took (even though I had no money to buy that car) and the fact that I came out a happy man after every TD. Finally did manage to buy it in 2009 and am simply just loving it :)
