Nice scoop Aniket. Great way to start
The car is not going to be a 'looker' at all and people might go for Toyota's brand value in India!

Nice first post, the cars look very bland. Especially the sedan, Hope the production (if ever) cars are better looking.

@all,thanks a lot

The guys you see in the first picture are Japanese engineers and they looked rather crossed when i started clicking. They drove away swiftly. Acceleration of both the cars seemed pretty good. There were Fortuners and Innovas in their convoy.

Great catch.
IMHO the hatchback looks better than the sedan.
One wiper is bad, especially for indian monsoon.

Dont worry gents. Like the Qualis- drop-dead ugly but 200% on utility, Toyota knows this will sell.

+1 to that.. Toyota is known for the Quality and reliability. Also the service too.. So i am sure it will give a good competition in the Hatch segment.

Ok so we have a Logan-ish, bland, previous decade design. (from various comments)
What does that mean ? Lost cost Sedan and Hatch. Ain't that great news ?

The hatch looks ok, but the sedan is just boring.

Toyota is giving atleast bland looking alloys, unlike some other manufacturer launching a hatch at 7 lacs with steel wheels and wheel covers. Sorry not to bring in brand war, just put a point a cross.

Looks pretty bland at least in the sedan version. The shades of logan are very clear! Good catch Aniket! The hatch resembles of one of the Nissan hatches (don't remember the name). Overall a good mix of Toyota - Renault Nissan . Did Toyota hire some design engineers from Renault Nissan in Chennai for this?

When exactly is the launch? Making a dent in sales of Maruti will depend on spreading their dealer network and service network. The hatchback market is more rural than luxury cars where Toyota had a presence so far. Unless they double/triple their reach, whatever be the price point, Maruti will still sell a million cars or more!

Ops what an ugly–boring-dated–pathetic-bland looking car (running short of adjectives), keeping the car cost low does not mean low on styling.
TOYOTA please send some of your stylist for a refresher course.
I have great respect for Toyota brand but looking at this crap makes me really angry. Come on please gives us better looking cars.

Ohh they gave us the old Corolla when it was launched in India and that too did not come cheap. If you need better looking cars then I don't know what price to expect.

Great Pics,

Looks like the hatch segment is going to be the one to watch for all the wars this year. I hope somebody launches a diesel auto hatch soon.

Boring and bland it may look, but I am sure Toyota will sell these like hot cakes banking on the reliability, low maintenance and smooth driving experience factor. Oh, add good resale value to that!

Good scoop Aniket,
The hatch looks better than the sedan, Again same complaint, Toyota designs are boring rather the sedan is unattractive. Same question like everyone, why affordable can not afford some good designs?
