Re: Would you buy a hatchback for 10L?

voted YES.
been considering a Punto 90 which is 8.8 lac OTR in Thane. I would not mind extending my budget and paying close to 10 lac if I get a fully loaded Jazz with a powerful diesel engine.
OR
would not mind paying 10 lac for a subaru impreza diesel; buy once and keep it for a lifetime.

Re: Would you buy a hatchback for 10L?

Voted Yes, like a lot of other posters here.

I'm a petrolhead, and performance and motoring joy mean more to me than squeezing every ounce of rational value from what I spend on a car.
So, if we could get a Golf GTi, or a Renault Megane 225, or a hot Cooper S, or an Alfa Brera, or a Vauxall Astra VXR for that kind of money, then sure - here's my cheque for 10 lacs, hand over my keys!

If all Im getting is a limp-steering i20 that sucks the joy out of driving, then no.

Most certainly not, not at least here in India.

I definitely would if I could get my hands on polo with the 1.4tsi motor which might go on the jetta or even the 1.6tdi on the fabia/polo.

VW are you listening!!!

Re: Would you buy a hatchback for 10L?

In our country,a hatchback for 10L is a complete no for me.When i could get better sedans for that price range why settle for something small.Unless the hatchback is something extraordinary or outstanding. If its a clio gti, golf gti, alfa romeo etc.But getting a fiat 500 with an overated price tag is unjust.Any hatchback in our country with a price tag like that would be a market dud.

Re: Would you buy a hatchback for 10L?

Voted yes.
Hatchbacks are my favourite kind of cars to be used in India. And my ideal 10L hatchback will be Punto with high quality leather interiors, sports seats and 1.6 mjd engine. Also, xenons and sunroof if possible. Looks like wishful thinking as of now :-)

Re: Would you buy a hatchback for 10L?

Voted No. I would consider buying hatchback for more than 10 lakhs only if it is from the premium luxury brands

the poll looks pretty even.voted no.I don't really see the value of driving a 10 lakh hatch. less passengers , less cargo, less fun.

Re: Would you buy a hatchback for 10L?

Well the fact remains if a car is selling above INR 10L then the marketers would not be selling it as Hatch back, they will come with a more glitzy name for it.
Like for e.g. Ford is selling its botched up hatch as a small sized SUV. I guess thats the way forward it will not be named hatch but something else to change its positioning.
But anyway my limited buck is not on that for sure

Re: Would you buy a hatchback for 10L?

When I voted "yes" for this poll, the cars I had in mind was the base variant of Golf and it's competitors. Back then there was speculation/ rumors that the Golf and Bravo were being considered for India. But in just over two years hatches like the i20 and Polo are inching towards this territory, and the EcoSport seems all set to breach the 10 lac mark. Wonder what price we would have to pay for the Golf if at all it's launched here!
