Car companies part with local vendors

Just stumbled across this article. This might be good or bad in many sense. If the parts are procured from china then it might be a problem when safety is concerned IMO as we all know how china products are. I know this sentence is speculative but this are "my thoughts". Even the cost of the vehicles might increase due to import duties etc.

They havent parted anything - government regulations tend to protect domestic industry. Its more of sabre rattling than anything else.
