Yes, the plain C250 is the "same-ol" C230.
However the C250 CGI (Charged Gasoline Injection) is an entirely different fuel injection setup - where fuel is directly injected into the cylinder.

Yes & No - The C250CGI in India is not the Charged gasoline injection which is derived from a 1.8, it is the 'same ol' C230 rebadged as the C250CGI. Before booking my A4 2.0 TFSI, i was super excited bout the C250 CGI since i expected it to replace the C200K but MB pulled this joke out of the bag by simply changing the moniker for the C230. Would've been great if they had..but nope!

Anyways, I don't see a manual BMW coming any soon here. 330i will at least have the flappy paddles.

330i. Wow.

I think the folks at BMW India got sick of hearing how the 325i was constantly outshone by it's diesel brother

@indra & platzda turbo- Please don't go by what you see on the website. Those timings are under the best quality fuel which we have limited access to in India and a bomb of a price.
Indra- The C220 CDi has a lot more torque hence can comfortably leap ahead of the C200K, a road race can't be a fair judgement. Ofcourse if you fill 97 octane in a C200K it would give the C220CDi a hard fight, but not otherwise.

@Nikhil & Platzda - The 530i can barely keep up with the 525d leave alone the 530d. Hence what you see on Top Gear doesn't apply to us as the fuel quality is much higher there. Here again you put higher octane fuel in a 530i it would be quicker and closer to figures stated on the website. Top speed is 250 for all (restricted) I don't know why they write 2km/hr less on the website for the diesels. I have touched 250km/hr in my 525d and the tacho showed steam left to go further but obviously the limiter wouldnt let it, nor was I ready to do something more stupid So obv the 530d is 250km/hr too.

The diesels do touch 250 kmph. I did a 250 kmph on the E280 CDI and the car was willing to go past but the limiter just wouldn't let me act more stupid!

uh oh...obviously the same concept would be applicable for the upcoming 535i !! with the low fuel quality here ....it wouldnt be able to unleash its true potential here. which kinda implies...we could have a 535i beating 530d on our hands here in India atleast. lol. Think so Sahil ?

Mercedes to launch C250 CGI at Expo | Autocar India

That was the last I read of it, subsequently I spoke to T&T Delhi & they confirmed the car will be the same old C230 but just rebadged. For all i know, MB didn't add the CGI at the end and kept it as the C250.

Either way - The 3.0 V6 is a beast - i've driven the 328i Coupe (same engine, not turbocharged like the 325) as well as the C300 extensively and the 3 definitely tops the C.

Platzda- no quite sure what you are trying to infer here. But its a known fact that petrol engines require high octane fuel to unleash all their potential. Whereas diesels can run at near max power without the best quality fuel, its a well known fact. I frankly don't see the 535i coming here anytime soon.

Exactly, same point. That is exactly why I was wondering whether the 535i's power advantage over the 530D is terms of BHP would hold any weightage at all as high octane fuel is hardly available here, so the petrol's engine's potential of 302 bhp would never be unleashed with low grade fuel. As far as the 535i arriving is concerned, what I said is not a mere speculation. Its a fact. Infact, if you go through some of the auto sites ( India based ofcourse) , youl find most of them state the same & that apart, BMW did have plans to launch the 535i in India to counter the E350.

Yes i was informed i could get one from Navneet Motors. Guess these would be in limited numbers to test the market response. Its like getting yourself a bigger M3 or a poor mans M3 .

That would be the 320i getting outshone by its diesel brother Nitronium. The 325i outshines the 320d hands down. There is no 325d in India.
