K12M is in a different league altogether. it provides 20% more power at 14% (claimed) higher FE. Now it should be clear why people are disappointed. What is not clear is the USP of Petrol Figo, if they do not price it very very aggressively?
Please dont make these assumptions without driving the car. Ford's 91 BHP ROCAM outperformed the Accent 1.5 and the 1.6, both of which were more powerful 'on paper', the 1.6 litre version more so.
Besides I have driven the Figo for a fairly long distance and can tell you that though it might be 'just' 70 bhp, its drives better than i20 1.2 and Swift 1.3 both, atleast in the city. The top end performance is respectable as well.

That aside, I always take ARAI figures with a pinch of salt. The Punto 1.4 users have regularly been claiming 12-13 kmpl in city conditions, less than 2 kmpl short of the ideal conditions ARAI figure of 14.3 kmpl. As they say the proof of the pudding is always in eating. Welcome to the real world!

There is some truth to what cuboid says. But we cant comment on the drivability of FIGO without having a TD of the car.
Overall they seem to be quite impressed with the car but again stressing the importance of pricing it right to make it work.

BTW here is what AUTOCAR show, from Bloomberg UTV, got in FE numbers and acceleration figures.

I thought Santro, being lighter, had better FE than i10. I don't think the Americans can beat the Japanese on reliability of engines.
What are the test conditions are for the ARAI ?

Called up Kairali Ford (Cochin) just now. They said the official pricing will be announced at 4pm today. I hope there won't be any bad surprises. I have already booked one.

Anyone else here thinks that Ford is pulling out all stops for this launch? I mean look at this, a price launch with a twitter feed, CEO coming in twice etc.

I think we have enough proof in the years than Ford have been here in India right from the Ford Escort days. Ford vehicles have lower resale value than the competition mainly due to two factors. Higher maintenance and higher cost of spares when compared to the Japs. The fact that a second hand Swift diesel sells at around the same price as a second hand Ford Fiesta diesel of the same age should be enough proof of this. And remember we are talking two different segements here. AFAIK, within the same segment, the Accent commands a better resale value than a similar Ikon.
