why is this difference there ?? any thoughts

that is done to price the lowest version under the psychological barrier of 3.5L. Maybe they will even lose money on the Lxi petrol but i don't think there will be many takers for that version which doesn't have LHRVM, Wheel caps, etc.

even Hyundai has a 3.5 Lac D-lite version of i10 which hardly sells.

+1 to that. Though the Beat seems to have a better engine and FE, as on overall package, the Figo seems to be better from whatever information is currently available. I'm just waiting to see that waiting list for the Swift vanish!

Hey Eddy:

Spare parts were definitely an issue with Ford sometime back. I don't think they are a big challenge now. Well, they are not as cost efficient as a Maruti or a TATA but equivalent to GM and lower than Toyota's and Honda's.

Moreover, I think the Figo is expected to share parts bin with Fiesta and hence that could be leveraged to bring costs down.

These are of course my opinion.

Best,
Fatboyslim

I think the 1.2L engine is comparable to the Beats engine in terms of performance. Infact, Figo would be a better city car than Beat based on ownership reports that low end response is poor on Beat. But Beat does beat Figo on FE.

Figo 1.2L also received quite a few positive reviews if I remember some of the reviews I read right. FE of 1.2L when compared with Ritz or Swift is less but that can be offset by the initial low cost of Figo. Well, Test Drives available from today, so a simple TD can reveal more about the driveability and performance of Figo 1.2.

We are looking for a 2nd car at home. Expected running less than 900kms a month. Likes of Beat and Figo perfectly fit the bill.

The pricing is indeed great for a Gem of a diesel engine and space. Petrol engine, I am not sure, if it is the same tune as Fiesta.

I love the petrol engine in the fiesta (I am proud owner) with its unapologetic throaty free-revving growl. And overall driving dynamics-I think all ford sedans-Ikon, Fiesta, Mondeo (Do not know enough of escort) are hoot to drive.

Now, hoot to drive positioning should have great attraction for the youth, but the conservative design takes off the shin a bit. Don't you think? I mean where is the famed 'Kinetic design' principle at work?

Best,

Good going Ford!

Way to go Ford!

The Figo Titanium Duratorq looks like an absolute steal!

First the Beat and now the Figo, the Yanks are on fire in India.

The competitive pricing is sure gonna give buyer more choice.
Maruti has to bring in its newer Swift to fight the market, else they are gonna see dwindling numbers.

Yes, 80-85% of all spares of petrol will be more cost effective than the i10
& 80-85% of all spares of diesel will be cheaper & more durable than the swift.

These were our targets & we have achieved them.

I think if they can make atleast 2.5k per month for first 4-5 months, it will be huge advantage for them. The numbers are bound to increase from there as people will start looking at Figo seeing the volumes on the road and word of mouth publicity.
I think the Internal target is closer to 2.5 times that number at 7K

The pricing is Bang on target! The diesel will sure see month's of waiting period. I drove a Fiesta some days back,it's a delight to drive in the city.Killer pricing worked for GM ,now it's Ford's time to cash in!

Hey Mustang! You were bang right on the pricing and the info you have been providing us have been very useful and interesting so far. Hope to see more posts from you.

Its great to hear that 80% of the parts are cheaper and durable than Swift. Ford has done a wonderful job here. The team that worked should be very proud of this.

Any info on the kind of numbers Ford is expecting/wishing for for the first few months?
