Hi all, can someone post the citywise break up of total sales. I just want to understand as to which are the cities contributing to the major sales. If I am not wrong, the top three are Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Would be keen in knowing further.

Thanks in advance.

Precisely. Just why has the Ritz not "swiftly" lived up to Swift expectations? OK, so the rear does not look good, but the Ritz has many + points over the Swift and yet the Swift sells in huge numbers, way over than those of the Ritz. Maybe, we should start a new thread on this very issue.

I agree. Guess what he meant was, not looking at the numbers, the general mood/perception on the forum is hardly indicative of the actual market. And in that sense, for example, polls on the forum are statistically biased. For example, 70% of the forum might be Fiat fans, but the country is not. And so on. While judging the success of a car, the forums generally tend to look at it from a Spec/Quality/Enthusiast perspective and not from a Marketeers perspective about what the typical common man on the street is looking for. Having gone through lots of threads, it is true that the general perception in the forum, including a LOT of people is that Ritz Petrol far outsells Ritz Diesel. Which is proved wrong by the numbers

Did not mean that the sales report analyses are not reliable.

Maruti-Suzuki has crossed One million production in 2009-2010, including exports.

Here are details of Sales in March 2010. Interesting to note that A2 and MUV segment have registered negative growth (YOY) for Maruti.

+1 to that.
Also consider the fact that members on T-BHP are purely auto enthusiasts who are generally well informed about tech-spec-makes and models, which is why they are members in the first place.

Waiting for the March sales figures eagerly!!

Ford's March sales treble; Figo receives 10,000 bookings

Carmaker Ford India today reported an over three-fold jump in its March sales at 9,478 units on the back of its newly-launched hatchback Figo getting a good response.

Figo has already over 10,000 bookings in the last four weeks, Ford India said in a statement.
The company had sold a total of 3,127 units in March 2009.

"In view of the market response to the Figo we will be ramping up its output by moving into a second shift of production at our Chennai facility though we have not finalised the time for it yet," Ford India Marketing Sales and Services Executive Director Nigel Wark told PTI.

The Chennai facility has a production capacity of one lakh units, which is now being increased to two lakh units as part of the company's $500-million investment plan. Besides, the facility also has a capacity of 2.5 lakh units of engines per annum.

Wark said there will not be any price hike on Figo and Ikon due the the new emission norms, but there will be marginal hike of 1-2 per cent in prices of SUV Endeavour and sedan Fiesta.

The company said all its models including the Ikon, Fiesta and Endeavour performed well during March.

Looks like the launches like manza, Polo, Beat and Figo have started showing their effects on maruti Sales. Especially the A2 Segment. I am thinking, maruti should start taking care of the home turf than catering and relying on european markets. Guess most of the sales is driven by export and Van segments.

Looks like GM is consolidating its position. I can see growth in Captivas and Aveos albeit touch disappointed with sales of Beat. I thought this car would contend against i10 and ritz, given its profile and design. Sales seem less than half of i10. Guess GM is yet in Ramping up mode.

thanks for sharing the sentiments.[]

And also " Bravo Ford" .....Tripling the sales growth. With the initial review of Figo on forum, I was under the impression Figo wouldn't draw great sales for Ford. But this is exceptional. Great going Ford and Figo.

I would like to see the March'10 figure of Manza. As others said GM is consolidating its position, expected a fall in Spark sales. Good to see that it is still selling over 3K, may be due to advance booking.

Thread for Mar-10 Sales

Hi all

Can we have separate thread for Mar-10 sales, instead of discussing under Feb-10 thread. Alternatively rename the thread to avoid confusion.

Mods... Please

The A2 segment (comprising Alto, WagonR, Estilo, Swift, A-Star and Ritz) also witnessed a fall of 1.18 per cent in sales during March at 54,763 units compared to 55,415 units in the same month a year ago.

This is interesting when every other manufacturer was making so many sales maruti seems to have lost a bit here.

This is probably the best news in the auto segment in this year! It clearly shows a good healthy trend - that competition is really hitting Maruti with VFM offerings. I am sure Ford & GM with the Beat & Figo. Bravo to them! Lets wait till Nissan ups the ante with Micra.

As a customer this is great news, we can expect some price corrections from Maruti soon!

Blame it on the Beat, Figo, Spark and Polo. Let's face it. There are much better choices than Maruti in that price segment. Wait until Nissan ramps up its network and launches the Micra which will be the first non-Maruti true blue Jap car under 5 lacs. Maruti needs to cut the prices of its diesel twins at the earliest or start giving more at current prices.

I have high hopes for Nissan in India. They make some of the creamiest petrols I have ever driven in my life. If I ever buy a Jap again, it would be a Nissan.
