The all New E-Class and the new-generation S-Class have emerged as clear favourites of the Indian luxury car buyer; the C-Class witnessed a resurgence with 172 units

The (yet to be launched) global heart-throb SLS AMG has already received six confirmed orders from Mercedes aficionados.

Pune – Continuing the high-octane start of 2010, Mercedes-Benz India today announced a record sale of 439 units in February 2010, marking a growth of 78 % over the same period in 2009 (246 units in Feb 2009). The new E-Class continued to surge ahead with introduction of the E 250V6 and E 250CDI to the existing line-up of E 350 and E 350CDI.

The S-Class also received a further boost with the S 350L and the S 350 CDIL joining the top-of-the line S 500L. Towards end February, Mercedes launched the S 600 Guard for India- the most expensive vehicle to be available in the country and also the only factory integrated special protection vehicle available in India.

The top-of-the-line C 250 introduced in January was the image driver for the existing models C 220CDI and the C 200 Kompressor.
The managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India Dr. Wilfried Aulbur attributed the response from the market to the reinforced focus upon the brand: “So far, we have registered a good start to the year 2010 and February sales have been encouraging. We started the year with the presentation of the SLS AMG at the Auto Expo 2010. In the past eight weeks we continued this product excitement with 10 new product introductions. We have reinforced the Mercedes lifestyle quotient with the 10th edition of the Mercedes-Trophy while our association with Manish Arora ensures exciting fashion evenings with his unique couture “Fascination Collection” inspired by Mercedes. With our network expansion and upgradation program, we are now present in 25 cities with more than 50 touch points, the largest for any luxury player in India. A few projects are remaining, e.g., a 12-car display showroom in Hyderabad, a 16-car display showroom in Chennai and a 26-car display brand center in South Delhi. These will be finished within the next few months and will set standards in their segment.”

Tata Motors Feb sales vroom 58 pc

Tata Motors Feb sales vroom 58 pc

Still a close race between hyundai and tata for no 2. Manza's momentum is continuing. Tata motors will widen the gap once they start commercial production in sanand(probably in April)

I want to see the figures of Tata Vista. Seems sales have shot up considerably. I no longer feel the exclusivity(if you can say so) of owning a Vista.

The Indica range reported sales of 11,502 units, the highest this fiscal, followed by the Indigo family, with a sales of 7,373 units witnessed a growth of 75.2 per cent over the same month last year.

I hope the TATA's force the rest of them (Hyundai and Maruti) to take the competition to the next level. Also nice to see the manza (7k+) doing well and not going the Punto way by loosing momentum 2-3 months after its launch.

The Nano sold 4,105 units in February
Glad to see the baby chugging out in full steam.I think the TATA's have quietly upped the production from 2500 odd a few months ago to 4k odd currently.

Indigo Manza has expanded the Entry level segment market for sure. Need to see the Dzire numbers to check if Manza has taken a pie from it. TATA numbers are growing stronger by the day.

FIAT needs to still work really hard to get the numbers to close to 3000 from the current 2300. Bring the Punto sports and Linea T-jet faster to atleast up these numbers along with the current engine versions.

That would mean around 1000 Linea and 1250 Punto. Linea numbers look OK, but Punto numbers are low, it should do at least 1500.

I dont think DeZire will be immediately impacted - though in future it sure will. Manza is clearly a superior car, and its good to see its getting the sales it deserves.

That's where the numbers are settling to and probably will remain. Do not see anyone in FIAT really looking at seriously increasing those, going by the way there are still stories of apathetic attitude to requests for TD's.
This number may in fact go down if the Figo and Polo take market share away, so crucial months for FIAT Punto!( also i20 for that matter)

Dezire sales will not come down immediately due to long waiting period, means they already have confirmed order for next few months. Anyway it may not come down below 5K due to 'MARUTI' tag. I think Manza will settle around 4-5K per month, now a days I see lots of Manza on Bangy roads.
