Unveiled: Nissan Micra - The brand's small car for India

Just called up Nissan dealership in Ahmedabad to inquire about Micra. According to them the car will be launched at around 15th May and will be displayed in Ahmedabad by 20th of this month.

was at Phoenix Mills mall today, where Nissan set up a kiosk for promoting the new Micra. The launch date according to the them is the 6th of May! Lets see how it goes till then as far as brand promoting is concerned, what seemed though is that they are going the eye-candy way, with a bright red kiosk

Fat chance of that happening. According to their press release, a handful of cars only just rolled off a test production run.

The launch is definitely NOT in May. June or July seem more like it.

Saw this while going from Golden beach to Mt. Thomas(OTA).
Dont know what road, sorry for only one pic, the road was jammed with traffic.

Was following these two cars at about 11.20 PM from Teynampet Signal all the way to Anna Statue. They went on, I had to turn around.

Wonder why they have MH plates, when there is a factory in TN??

Photos are from my E72 while chasing 'em - this all the quality / focus I could manage :(

I dont have a snap, but I think, I saw the same guy doing rounds near the Arcot road signal at SRM. At that time
I did not understand, why he had an MH registration?

I was behind from almost NH4 Arch road signal. Then I went past him and later did not notice where he went.

This was during the week of 26th April, when I had driven to Chennai.

Saw the same car (Atleast the same color car with just the Nissan badge covered up) in Ashok Nagar yesterday. Had a good road-presence.

Micra is not macho, but cute. Reminds me of the cheeky looking Matiz.

Also great people who cannot afford the 22 lakh Beetle.

What would be the price range.

It could be launched sometime in June/July with prices close to that of the Swift. Bookings would normally begin after the launch

If this -> Nissan Micra | New Car | Features | Advanced Features - Oneindia Living article can be trusted, then it could be as soon as this month or next. Also the article says micra will launched in automatic vertion [cvt]. Hope it is true. But I seriously doubt this article as it says micra will be launched with 3 engine options [1.2P, 1.4P & 1.5D], as some one mentioned in TBHP that micra will initially be launched only with 1.2P. Lets wait and see.

I dont think the launch is so close,if yes where is the dealership network,promotion?
I am guessing it will be launched in july,not before that.They have to start regular pre production also before launch.

i too called Nissan Ahmedabad. He called me back and said that it will be in last week of May.

But he was too keen to sell me an X-trail.

Yesterday I have posted my details in Nissan Micra website and in few minutes got a mail from Nissan with a link to photos of Micra in Geneva auto expo.

Within an hour got a call from Lakshmi Nissan, Hyderabad and they were stating that Micra would be launched in second week of June and deliveries would be starting by end of July.

They also stated that if I would like to book the vehicle now I can pay a booking amount of Rs.50000/- which is completly refundable in case I cancel the booking.
