can't agree with that in toto, but couldn't disagree either.
Ford ikon has been one success story in india, which is more than enough for a company to substantiate hype in its new releases.
but if the new one is anywhere near that fiesta, then they've got it all wrong!!!

This was the worst write-up on Ford Fiesta I have seen since the announcement was made a few days back ....
Who wants to know how much it costs in pounds ? Even the pictures dont match ...
Definitely the work of a trainee ...

The Ford India site has been updated with Dura info too ..

They are 'selling' the engine (with more focus on the diesel Duratorq) before the car ...

Did you notice that they've shown a Ferrari F1 in the 'Wanna Dura?' flash intro?

Yup. Guess they didn't get any other remote controlled F1 car in India for the ad...

Does anyone have any idea about this DURA engine ? I mean is it better, equal , worse than the Accent's CRDi ,cause that the only benchmark i have as of now ?

Nothing like if its better ... great even if it is equal and at the price of say 7 - 7.5 L ...

So thats the other question ... what price range will it be launched in ?

Thanked: Once

1 thing i wanted to know...
ford is going to launch both the variants - petrol and diesel
long back i read somewhere that for petrol...they are coming up with a 1.6 litre engine with 100 bhp
and the diesel i read said 1.4 litre duratorq td..something...producing 63 bhp...
now in 2-3 websites i read that the diesel engine theyre coming up with is a 2.0 litre engine...

just wanted to know whether they are going to have 1.4 or 2.0 litre diesel engine...and around how much bhp will it produce...

and please let me know if any of you guys get to know the kind of fe this car will be giving...

Right said! Come to Chennai and take a look around.
Small car - Hyundai Santro
Sedan - Ford Ikon and Hyundai Accent (to a lesser extent than Ikon)

Maybe place of manufacture plays a part but Ikon does seem to be the preferred sedan here.

To add, the Ikon 1.8 D may not have much going for it from an enthusiast's perspective, but it has a large fan following here.

2 of my neighbours who had Ikon 1.8 Ds recently bought new cars ..... Ikon 1.8 D Nxt's!

The Accent CRDi does well with a 1.5 litre engine. The Duratorq TDCi is the Common Rail series developed by Peuguot for Ford (though Ford claims it was developed 'WITH' Peuguot Citroen PSA). Its ax output is 68 PS @ 4000 rpm and Torque is 160 nm @ 2000, which isnt too bad.

The 1.6 develops 100 bhp or so, which is pretty much the benchmark (compare with NHC's measly power figures).

However, a comparison of diesels in this bracket makes the diesel look a bit ordinary:

MODEL Max Power Max Torque

Fiesta Duratorq 1.4 TDCi 68PS @ 4000 rpm 16 kgnm@2000

Accent CRDi (1.5) 82PS @ 4000 rpm 19.1kgnm @ 2000-2700

Indigo TDi 70PS @ 4500 rpm 13.5kgnm @ 2500

Fiat Petra 1.9D 63PS @ 4500 rpm 12.2kgnm @ 2500

As you can see, the engine doesnt come out tops in either bhp or torque.
yeps..the diesel doesn't seem to exactly excite.

based on above,
what are estimates on :
1. F.E. Will it be as good as Accent CRDI / Indigo ?
2. Driveability. Low end torque as good as, for eg. Palio D ?

also assuming the diesel version will definitely be at least 7.5L on road, it is a VFM option at all ?
