Good to know that.Is there an increase in the power delivered by the 1,2L mill?

Also why is a premium charged for the FTA colour?

This could be a smart move on Fiat's part considering the new competition is going to breathe down heavily on them. Any way most Indians give a damn about the engine. Looks make a lot of difference & this is 1 thing where the Punto has a good advantage, even in the face of newer competition.

oh! I dont know why they didn't have the 1.2 available in all variants from the beginning. Looks like with so many 1.2 L launches from other mfrs Fiat too decided to have them and compete on pricing front.

So what would differentiate a 1.4 from a 1.2 Petrol, will they have 1.2 written at the back for the new variants. Now will people buy the 1.4 emotion when 1.2 emotion is also available. Emotion pack will still sell in few numbers as its fully loaded.

I still feel they should bring emotion pack in 1.2 as that will show them some nos as it would be nicely pitched against i20 which is some what in same range. Then only it can snatch some nos from hyundai or other manufacturers. 1.4 version in a loner I dont think anybody with 1.4 engine is there in market (except Tata) hence it wont cannibalise 1.2 sales for emotion pack.

The Punto was losing heavily on the features front in the 1.2 battle. So this should help.

But, discontinuing the 1.4 only good if they are thinking of getting something better!.. say a 1.6! Otherwise, how would they battle the likes of Swifts and i20s with a 68ps motor??

A good move by Fiat, but what is extremely disappointing is that they have left out ABS in the 1.2 Emotion. Why Fiat why?

Also the seat height adjuster is missing on 1.2 emotion. Basically they want to compete at the lower end of the trim levels against each of the manufacturers with most competitive pricing, since thats were the sales are the most.
Ofcourse those who value safety in terms of airbags/ABS will go for 1.4.

Nope, it wasn't.

What I want to know is whether the 1.4 has been retuned to overcome the irritating lag at sub 2100 rpms.

Here where something weird i noticed as originally they have mentioned as

Quote:
11825F 1.4 16V E4 95CV / 70KW DYNAMIC GD-INDIA

11825F 1.4 16V E4 95CV / 70KW EMOTION GD-INDIA
Is it the Dynamic Petrol or the Emotion Petrol is getting discontinued is the question. as the 11825F represents the Dynamic Version.

There is a small improvement in ARAI certification for 1.3 & 1.2. It was 19.2 and 14.3 kmpl respectively, but no improvements on 1.4.

Good move by Fiat to introduce 1.2 emotion petrol. Will have to see if any improvements on fit and finish.

Can't help but feel that Fiat MUST give the ABS as an option on the 1.2.

But what Fiat still needs to address are the petrol engines. I think going the DOHC way and 4-valves per cylinder on the 1.2 could easily push the power up to around 75 BHP and the torque to about 106-108 Nm which atleast puts it in the ballpark.

coming to the 1.4, I don't know what has gone wrong, and why this engine seems like such an under-achiever. Major retuning required and the output needs to go beyond 90 BHP on this one. C'mon Fiat, do something!!

Spot on mate!

1.2 going 4 valve DOHC would mean a decent bit of juice.

The 1.4 is frankly a lovely free revving engine. It is the best engine I have ever driven (between 3k and 6k), FIAT is committing harakiri by tuning it in such a horrible way!
