If i had the money, id go for the New VW Polo.

It may probably have the same or lesser kit than the other new launches, but just one look at it would make me ignore the rest.

And being German, it will be well built and very reliable.

My vote would go for the Manza. This car is a sheer VFM and brilliant package overall. I was impressed with the interior trim, gearshift and features that this car offered, yeah its not right up there in the quality aspect. But still deserves some credit.

Ford take a bow for Figo pricing!

Ford Figo launch IMO, closely followed by Manza

I remember finding myself glued to Twitter and Facebook during the recent price launch.

My award goes to the polo.

1. The auto expo launch created a lot of hype
2. Their frontpage ad on the times of india - that little car shaped cut out kinda thingy was super.
3. The red color on all advertisements and trial cars was a cool idea
4. The idea of being first mass market volkswagen in india gave it the aspirational edge

All this ensured that my whole office went to test drive the car. However, we did end up preferring the figo to the polo!

In my opinion, the best car launch of recent times should go to Nano. The reasons are as follows:

1. Dead cheap motoring for masses, which is safe at the same time.

2. 3-pot motor made mainstream. This has lead to acceptance of 3-pot motors generally.

3. Decent performance, as I have seen few Nanos zipping past me (@ 70 kmph on bike & 60 kmph in car in Delhi).

4. 5 people can fit in with little discomfort.

5. It is Indian... & I can shout the same over the roof.

Hi CarDeep, it's the Maruti-800 which really made the 3-pot engine mainstream in India. The 'desi' Nano comes with a 2-pot engine, single camshaft, 2-valve head, & a balancer-shaft.

Which is the best car launch in recent times? Manza, Figo, Beat, Polo etc....-smallcarenginedisplacements.jpg

I think it's the 'phoren' Nano (Europa ?) that's to have a 3-cylinder engine.

Guys, I think this thread is going in the wrong direction.
It is not about the best car, but the best car launch in terms of advertising, marketing, pricing. The launch of which car created the most interest, awareness, temptation for the product.

I had won a small gift from Tata Motors as well. They called me up and said that they liked my phrase about the Manza. I forgot what I had written though.

Nevertheless I like all car launches that happens in India and compare the features offered to Indians by the car manufacturers.

An A/T Diesel Hatch at 5.5lakh would be the best launch for me.

P.S. This thread deserves a poll.

EDIT: What did you win harimakesh? Just a little inquisitive!

The gift is actually an electronic device the size of a cellphone. You can insert SIM cards and copy all contacts into it. The small screen in it can be used to browse through the numbers, view and edit them. So its a sort of digital phone book. Memory is 1000 contacts/numbers.

So personally speaking, Its got to be the Manza and the Figo.

Just for the shake up in the segment and choice that it offers to the customer i would say Tata Manza. As for the fresh looks and the revival it brought to its manufacturer it has to the Beat.

IMO it is the chevy beat .

1. it has revived the fortunes of GM in india . it even posted a profit . earlier in 2009 it had filed for bankruptcy in US .

2. good marketing campaign which generates interest in the product .

3. excellent VFM product and good international quality makes it a good buy for the young indian .

4. has set a trend with global launch only for india market first .

5. lastly i own the chevy beat , hence my vote goes handsdown to the beat .
