Yep, very sad indeed.

No cat-con, No Resonator.
I'm screwed if they decide to check my car.
PS: Whats the status on your exhaust, John?

I feel government is stupid in implementing the BSIII norms for bike instead they can ask them to compliance with BSIV.If I am not wrong, bikes are selling at around 2.5 times the cars are selling. So in reality bike are polluting more than cars but the blame comes to car owners.

Bikes selling most run engines with a cubic capacity of 100-125cc.
Lawn Mowers would pollute more than these 4-stroke engines.
So, BS3 or BS4, no big difference, right?

Mine is a Feb 2000 model, 81300 KM on the Odo. The test was done while idling, as it has always been. The testing centre is a reputed one where I always go. The values had been more or less similar when I used to test the bike at Bangalore too. Granted, I maintain the bike in mint condition.

My question : Is the bike super efficient, or the guideline values are set absurdly high?

+1 to what nitrous says. Please check out the emission level of my decade old Splendor. I doubt that even a BS IV car can match that.

Sorry to disagree with the folks here; IMO, any improperly maintained vehicle, be it motorcycle or car or buses or trucks pollute more & its the owner's responsibility to maintain it well; Any day I bet my 19 years old Rx100 will have a pollution reading less than 2.2 & that is without catcon silencer.

Bikes do pollute more than cars. Strange but true. My new CBZ-x emission is much higher than even our Euro-II car. Compared to the latest cars, the gap will be even wider.

Goes without saying that the bike is v well tuned and maintained.

There is a service centre in kannikapuram, near puthu kovil (velachery main road, a few 100 mts away from concorde show room), where you can get the certification done.

Guys,

Those vehicles which were stopped, Revved by a constable, smoke checked by his inspector, found guilty but let go without fines are being sent a court order.

My Company transport was stopped, and the above process was done. The driver was so happy that he was let go even though his vehicle was non compliant. Alas, the owner received a court order to pay a fine of 500/- Rs. I cannot vouch on the authenticity of the amount, but can vouch that he got a court order. I cannot vouch as all average drivers tell that they will be at our place in 2 minutes but end up sometime even after 30 mins. I have never seen a driver in india who says 2 minutes and really reaches in two minutes.
