Front wheel drive Vs Rear wheel drive

Last week, while I was test driving the BMW 320d Highline, the sales representative told me that the BMW is a rear wheel drive which is much better than Skoda Superb's front wheel drive. He knew I was also looking at the Superb 1.8 as the dealership of both the cars is owned by a single person. As I am not a techincal person, I wonder if members can give their views on this.
