Road Tax in Delhi to hike from 1st April 2010!

Just got a SMS notification from Courtesy Honda, that road tax to hike up in Delhi from 1st April 2010, and hence, to take the current opportunity to own your "dream" Honda now!

Impact Ranges:
Jazz & City - 1% increment
Civic & Accord - 2%
Accord V6 & CRV - 3%

So, after the increment, will the road tax in Delhi be still counted as one of the lowest in the country?

Further, found this as well..

Quote:
Road tax up: Pay more for your new car

Come April and you will have to pay more ‘road tax’ — or registration fee — on the new cars and two wheelers that you buy.
The Delhi government has decided to increase road tax on new vehicles in the upcoming state budget, due on Monday.

It proposes to raise road tax on cars priced at less than Rs 4 lakh from the existing two per cent (of ex-showroom price) to four per cent.
The government has proposed different tax slabs ranging from five per cent to nine per cent on cars priced at more than Rs 4 lakh.

That means a Honda Civic 1.8V AT (ex-showroom cost Rs 13. 71 lakh) at six per cent road tax will now be dearer by Rs.27,420. A Maruti Alto Lxi (ex-showroom Rs.2.63 lakh) at four per cent will be dearer by Rs 5,267.
Road tax in Delhi is, at present, among the lowest in the country.

Still damn cheap man! In Bangalore LTT is 13.3% now, and going to be 14.3% (plus 1% increase in state VAT) from April.

Its the land of thieves -nothing else. The worst roads and infra and the max tax, biggest problem is that the docile software engineer will not raise his voice and the rest are plain too laid back to talk about any unjustified moves by the govt

Sorry! slightly off-topic.

Can someone throw some light on the road tax increase that might happen in near future in Andhra Pradesh. I read in some other forum that there is going to be increase in road tax (12% for first vehicle and 15% for second vehicle) in AP. Is that true?

thats bad, now I guess it will make more sense to buy Gurgaon numbers as they are quite cheap, especially for diesel vehicles like Safari, scorpio, just 1 percent of exshowroom.

Infractions: 0/2 (8)

I think it is about time that we had an Uniform Tax, Excise structure across all States and Union Territories across India.
Octroi should be abolished as should any other form of Entry Tax.
With VAT having come into force, CST should be abolished.
And for Branded Items such as cars, there should be a common MRP across the country, differentiated only by the variant chosen by the consumer.
The same logic should apply for Fuel, Petrol and Diesel.
This would be the fairest way in my opinion. Parity is required across India, regardless of whether it is a State or Union Territory, whether located in North, South, East or Western Region.
After all we are One Country and therefore should be paying One Price!

6000rs in chd! I feel ripped off with the 2% I paid to Punjab govt!
I guess we will have more registrations in Gurgaon and Noida after this hike.
