Wow, Fabia 1.6 should be a perfect blend of Power and Balance.

Only very recently, I got to get behind the wheel of this Skoda hatch and boy it felt like driving an Invincible Tank.

Guys, any idea on the Specs & Performance stats of the 1.6 ?

Can anyone tell what are the Ex-showroom prices of all models in Delhi? I am little confused between Delhi and Maharashtra

....
If the model shown in the pic is Elegance, sad that we don't have xenon headlamps anymore. Or is it that you get door side strips in Ambiente too now?

Third Pic: What's that black knob on the co-driver door, just above the hand rest. Have they put in something there. On the driver side it used to be the orvm adjuster knob.

the site is up and running now. However the prices are not yet displayed on it yet. More or less the variant specs are same as ones available in polo !

Guys,

This is good pricing. and in today's war of the hatchback time, there are fair chances for Skoda to sell these in good nos. Fabia 1.6 Elegance at 5.81 L? Now thats a good pricing.

Would love to check out the new fabia sometime over the next weekend. And with all the waiting period for Polo i guess this would be a good option. After all, both belong to same family. First Cousins
thanks a lot.

Prices now updated on the website. So, Ambiente is now renamed Elegance. Some big changes in my opinion:

1.185/60 R14 now replaced by 175/70 R14 as standard, except in the 1.6 Elegance.
2. Electric adjust ORVM's no more
3. No 60:40 seat split
4. Don't know if the new electro-mechanical steering is the same as the earlier electro-hydraulic.

On the + side, multi-function-display, side-door strips, and tinted windows retained.

Other minor removals:
cooling in the glove box
seat height adjust for the co-driver
Pretensioners for front seat belts
three point seat belts for the 5th passenger

clearly Polo has set the upperbound. Perhaps the engine change justifies the losses.

To be honest 2 cents , I myself was wondering about the same thing. That used to be the electric mirror adjuster knob. Maybe its the manual adjusting knob now. Got a call from Skoda dealer sometime back. Will see the car in the evening and let you know.

Skoda Fabia launch in Mumbai

Just attended the launch of the Facelifted Skoda Fabia at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai

Three engines find their way into the Fabia courtesy VW of course

1.2 Petrol -75 BHP @5400 rpm
1.2 Common Rail Diesel - 75 BHP @4300 rpm
1.6 Petrol - 105 BHP @5250 rpm (I quite liked the sound of that )

All the engines are mated to a 5 Speed Manual gearbox.

Some key points of the newly launched Fabia
  • Airbags across all models ( Driver airbag for base model, dual airbags mid variant onwards)
  • New safety features Engine Braking Control(EBC) and Dual Rate Brake Assist
  • 315 litres of boot space (1180 litres after folding down the seats)
  • Rear AC vents under front passenger seats
  • New design elongated headlamps and foglamps
  • Soft touch dashboard with chrome decor and ivory interiors

Some other points told to me by Mr. Thomas Kuehl Director Sales & Marketing Skoda India during our conversation at the launch event
  • The Fabia will be made on the same assembly line as the Polo at the the Chakan plant Pune.
  • Skoda is planning a new hatchback which will be smaller than the Fabia. This will a 100% localised product made in India. Expect this within the next couple of years.
  • The Octavia will be phased out soon and a replacement is due.
  • Yeti India launch in the next 4 weeks.
  • Skoda is looking at localisation of spare parts to bring down ownership costs. Good move IMO.
  • Dealership network to go upto 80 across India from 64 by the end of this year

The Fabia will be available in three variants Classic, Ambiente and Elegance. However the 1.6 will be available only in Elegance trim. If I'm not wrong the Polo 1.6 is also sold in just the Highline variant.

A journalist posed quite a funny question about the theft of Skoda logos especially in Mumbai and what Skoda could do about it. Mr. Ashutosh Dixit, the Sr. GM for Sales and Marketing replied that they are actually thinking of giving away logos free at the dealership to whoever walks in for them This it seems is a move to counter the black market for Skoda logos

Prices for the new Fabia are as follows:

Ex Showroom Mahrashtra (Rupees)

1.2 Petrol

Classic - 4.19 lakhs
Ambiente - 4.69 lakhs
Elegance - 5.51 lakhs

1.2 Diesel

Classic - 5.23 lakhs
Ambiente - 5.73 lakhs
Elegance - 6.50 lakhs

1.6 Petrol

Elegance - 5.81 lakhs

Ex Showroom Delhi (Rupees)

1.2 Petrol

Classic - 4.35 lakhs
Ambiente - 4.85 lakhs
Elegance - 5.68 lakhs

1.2 Diesel

Classic - 5.40 lakhs
Ambiente - 5.91 lakhs
Elegance - 6.69 lakhs

1.6 Petrol

Elegance - 5.99 lakhs

They are not offering front power window in a 5+ lacs car now thats bad and no rear power window in the middle variant.

For me its a deal breaker as even a 3 lac alto has power windows

Quite a few changes from the outgoing Fabia. Apart from the engine upgrade, many other things seem to have been downgraded.
For one, I didn't find any mention of the rear wiper/defogger on their website.
Skimping on an important feature as this is not what Skoda should be doing.

Also no 60:40 rear split.

Simply to position the car below the Polo, lots of features have been sacrificed. I'd go for the outgoing Fabia rather than putting my money on this new one.

The new fabia seems to be good. If only that were the case with their dealerships.
From not having any hot hatch, we now have two! That too in a space of a few months! Is the indian car market moving away from the standard "kitna deti hai" mindset?
