Laura prices have been updated. Marginal increase in prices and guess what they have prices of Ambiente and Elegance AT as well although it does not appear in specs!

Great ! since Jan 2009- this is the third time it changed specs. Firstly they introduced new shape, then added with a new TDi 140 bhp , PD engine and now- CRDi engine. Wondering whether any effect on FE will be there. Marginal price increase couldnt be ruled out as even the new budget had indicated so. In the pics on the microsite(for colour and options) they are still showing the old model.

Have they re-introduced sun-roof in L&K variant?

Fresh from my visit to the dealership:

As you know Skoda will be discontinuing their PD engines including the 1.9 diesel and upgrading all their diesel engines to 2.0 TDI CRDI due to Bharat Stage IV norms.

Before we begin I would like to raise some questions to the Pundits:
1.) Will this change the kmpl(average) of the car for better or (worse (doubt it)?
2.) Will this change/render the "excellent" resale value of the 1.9 pd Tdi?
3.) How will the new 2.0 affect the competition? (Civic, Corolla, Cruze, Jetta, Sonata)?
4.) Why havent they intergrated 16V DOHC into the MT versions?!
Reason being I'm planing to buy the 2.0 Amb MT.

With that said lets carry on-

If you were wondering: To my knowledge this is purely an engine swap, the new 2.0's will not feature any cosmetic, cabin, structural, equipment changes.

Technical Specifications:

v1.) Laura 1.8 Tsi/118 KW MT (Unchanged)
v2.) Laura MT 2.0 Tdi CR/81 KW (Manual)
v3.) Laura AT 2.0 Tdi CR/103 KW (Automatic DSG Gearbox)

V2) BHP:110/4200rpm Torque 250/1500-2500rpm (Manual)
V3) BHP:140/4000rpm Torque 320/1750-2500rpm (Automatic)

The manual will not receive 16V DOHC.

Here's the Price list for Ex-Mumbai (As of 17 April 2010)
Ex-Mumbai-

(V2) Laura 2.0 Amb MT, EX-Showroom (1,411,716)
On Road Price (1,586,211)

(V3) Laura 2.0 Amb AT, Ex-Showroom (1,524,777)
On Road Price (1,712,392)

Laura 2.0 L&K AT, Ex- Showroom (1,846,299)
On Road Price (2,071,226)

"ON Road" Includes R.T.O, service charge, insurance et all.

(As of 17 April 2010) (More variants and area of purchase can be found in the attachment below)

Here is the complete product catalog containing anything and everything Laura related.

Haven't been able to test drive the vehicle, will be doing so within 10 days and will post my review shortly. (2.0 MT "V2")

Hope these inputs quenches the thirst.

I went to check about the CR engines in Laura at the dealership today. The sales person was vehemently denying about 2.0L engine in elegence & Ambient trims. She maintained that the 2.0L CR engine is going to be only in the L&K version, and other versions will continue to have the 1.9L PD engines.

Wonder what sort of communication exist between Skoda & its dealers

A.) Shes lying to you, I'm guessing the dealership is trying to dump as many of the older 1.9 PD's as possible before they introduce the 2.0's. In Mumbai their giving discounts up to INRI 60,000.
B.) She possibly could be uninformed about the change to 2.0 CR, as this is relatively new.

-As I mentioned before, 2.0 CRDI engines will replace the 1.9PD and 2.0 PD. Till now this is what I heard in Mumbai and I'm pretty sure will soon branch out if not already nationally. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Lets not go there. Skoda after-sales and in my experience before-sales as well, is utter rubbish! "Make them rank at the bottom of the pile." -TBHP
This is to accordance with Auto magazines as well as TBHP.

Tip~
-Try speaking to a more experienced sales person -Sr. Sales executive.
-In this case stress change in Bharat IV norms and he might loosen up.
-If your planing to buy obviously WAIT! Let the 2.0's roll out.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

One of the possible reasons might be the dealer has cars with older PD engine in stock and he wants to sell them before the Cars with CR engines.

Since the company has launched new engines and even updated the websites regarding the same, there is close to no possibility of the dealership staff having no knowledge about the change.

What i gather from this thread is, Laura has two engine options for diesel, 2.0 CRDi 110 bhp and 2.0 CRDi 140 bhp, where the former will be for Ambiente and Elegance (only 5-speed MT) and the latter will be for L&K (only 6-speed DSG).
Am i missing anything?

^^Diesel AT is available in Ambiente and Elegence as well, but TSi comes only with MT.

This was true before the engine change. Is it still the same? Skoda Laura website is a joke. Confirm if you have first-hand info from a dealer.

I am surprised to see the Superb 3.6 TFSI written as 3.6 TFSI Tdi in the file by Autobahn. Attaching a screen shot from the excel file.

Laura and Superb to come with new CRDI diesel engine EDIT: Now launched-superb.jpg
