That is just sweet! Thanks to the older 2.0 PD, its the petrol that made the better "Superb". A rare European car where the petrol engined variant is superior to the diesel.

Bet the 2.0 common-rail changes that. It doesn't have the monster turbolag of the PD either.

I was wondering whether the Superb 2.0 CRDi will have the seven-gear DSG box or the six as it was in the Passat?

As on the website Skoda:: Facts : automatic 6-speed, DSG, with Tiptronic manual gear changing

7 speed DSGs are meant for low torque engines whereas 6 speed are for high torque ones. Source VW Uk website.

Why, except for the turbo lag, do you say that the new diesel will now be the "better" Superb?

I still see the 1.9 specs. Site update issues maybe?

Only the spec sheet in the laura microsite has been updaed. Rest of the pages are still referring to the PD engine. Eagerly waiting to see the prices.

On a side note i was expecting them to put the 1.6 CR engine in the Ambiente & Elegence versions and the 2L CR (110bhp) engine in the L&K, but they have gone for the higher specs.

Laura L&K has the 140bhp version while Jetta has to stay with just the 110bhp CR engine.

If you are using IE just try Shift+Refresh or Shift+F5.

FYI, the Octavia is alive and kicking in Europe, especially Germany and the Czech. The 1.9TDI Engine is EU4. The indian website also refers to EU4 compliance, but in the spec- sheet, they say it is BS3. I wonder whether we shall be also offered an Octavia with an uprated engine.

Could be. The dealer here indicated that Octavia bookings have been suspended since they are expecting some 'changes'.

Oh and the Laura TSi has a 2 month waiting period.

Just went through the tech specs page for Laura CRDI. The 110bhp engine has peak torque from just 1500rpm . But the bad news is AT will only be available in top of the line L&K variant with 140bhp version of the same engine.

Sorry, but it isn't so. The old Octavia is called "Octavia Tour", and is sold as a saloon and an estate alongside the new Octavia, ie, our Laura.
