People are not discouraged simply because its a 1.5... My thinking is, however great the 1.5 is (and I expect it to be great), that little extra would have made it even better.

For all those who have seen the new Fiesta in flesh, does it have a front seat armrest (with storage compartment below) too, just like the competitors like ANHC and Verna have?

Good question. I do not remember seeing one that was on display at the Select Citywalk mall (Saket, Delhi). Now that I think about it, I am pretty sure it wasn't there. Bummer ......

Thanks DnD. It (arm rest) was probably set upright (did not get to sit inside the car, had a peek from the outside), or maybe, I need new glasses.

Edit - the under thigh support looks pretty good, at least from the snaps.

IMHO, 1.5l engine capcity is the best capacity needed for cars of this segment as it provides the Power of a 1.6 while consuming fuel like an 1.4 engine.
As most of the 1.6 engines previously proved themselves as gas-guzzlers & not much reliable, like that of Ford Ikon ROCAM, Opel Astra/Corsa 1.6, Optra 1.6, Chevrolet Aveo 1.6, Fiesta DURATEC, MS Baleno, SX4 petrol, Skoda Fabia 1.6 & many more, whereas 1.4s lacked the punch needed in such cars, as in Opel Corsa 1.4, Chevrolet Aveo 1.4 VGIS.

One of the best engines of the last decade were 1.5s & these were belonged to;
-Old Honda City 1.5.
-Honda City 1.5 ZX V-TEC.
-All-New Honda City 1.5 i-VTEC.
-Hyundai Verna 1.5 VGT CRDi.
The latter one was even more punchier & enjoyable than New Fluidic Verna's 127PS one, despite of 17 lesser horses.
It seems that ford have understood the logic behind the 1.5 engines of our country while exhaustively testing their new Fiesta range here, indicating their long terms plans with this car for our country.
Regarding downsized Diesel engine, in addition to above factors I'm sure Ford India must be having in their minds to share this engine with Fiesta hatchback(due to ED norms), which they might plan to launch it here by 2012.
An added advantage of an engine below 1500 CC is that for insurnace claims, the compulsory deductible is only Rs 500. It is Rs 1000 for cars above 1.5 L

Looks much like the Vento armrest; it may will interfere with the hand-brake. Also the plastic quality of the armrest looks very very cheap, not of a 10L car!

Mustang would be back with a bang tomorrow. He had already mentioned that he would be away on vacation without net access!
And I had the chance to catch a glimpse of the new Fiesta without any camouflage yesterday. Looks much better in flesh than in pics, the interiors with red lighting, with the large inset display made it look like a very special place to be in

Must see reviews of New Indian ford fiesta. I think ford has done their home work well for the Indian version.

We drove both the petrol and diesel Fiestas. The petrol Fiesta has tall gearing and has been tuned for fuel efficiency. Performance is average and the chassis begs for a more powerful motor.
Hope TBHP too get opportunity like this to test drive

I saw the same Blue one near Marthahalli around 4:40PM. I wasn't very impressed by the looks of it.

From the initial TD's i have seen, looks like they lost their USP in performance, and went for FE. Cant really blame them though.

Lets see the prices - The 10L price would be testing waters. Many companies do that via an internal leak to see how the price is received. They will find success if they undercut ANHC, Verna & City. At the same price, there wont be much takers.
