re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 46

Its officially confirmed on the Autocar Show that the launch of all new Fiesta is just round the corner.

Small news, since the same footage mentioned FERRARI coming to India. However, for common folks eagerly awaiting the launch of the poor man's BMW in its new avtar, this piece definitely brought smiles to many faces.

Exactly. The target competition is ANHC, Vento Highline range. The existing Fiesta will be rechristened Fiesta Classic, though it gives a very Ambassadorish feel to the car.

Based on my discussion with one of the ford dealers, there will be a 1.8L petrol for the new fiesta petrol category, as the current 1.6 will continue with fiesta classic. Tentative OTR Bangalore is 12 L. Will come back on diesel soon.

a 1.8 L is like venturing into corolla/skoda and civic territory .Ford lacked a vehicle on that range

Wouldn't the Focus be the appropriate competition for the Corolla/Laura/Civic segment, rather than a Fiesta? Considering things like space, size, etc.

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 46

A 1.8l petrol engine in the present fiesta seems inappropriate; seems to be more apt in the C+ segment, as mentioned by arunphilip.

Continuing with the 1.4 l diesel and broadening the range of the petrol to 1.8l would create problems for the new petrol fiesta even before its launch.

Very unlikely that the Fiesta go into the Laura/Civic category. The segment position cannot be really gauged with the engine size (1.6 or 1.8).
Ford has been in this market for so long, that its unlikely that they will position the Fiesta in the right place. And looking at the size / proportions, I am sure that the Fiesta will be aligned to compete with the likes of City. And thats how it is positioned in other markets as well.

90hp for the diesel is the one I am looking forward to drive. It should be JOSH full to drive me FIDA ;-)

I dont get this. Why is everyone afraid of crossing the 100HP mark in the Diesels when there is evidently a market for these type of engines. Im sick of hearing the whole "90HP is powerful" nonsense!

If the 90bhp engine is tuned to deliver power as the 68bhp, and the steering feedback is as good, then the car would be a hoot to drive. I am waiting for this and the new verna. Let the games begin! For any one wanting more than 100bhp what is petes for?!!!
