yes, it definitely looks sad to see such awaited launch which does not give much information about the car itself! No information about variants, prices, booking dates, mileage etc.
But as Mustang said its for aam-junta to know that there is a new car coming from Ford! May be they wants to keep the momentum of their brand value after success of Figo.

Also, one fact that most would fail to notice here, that we the BHP-ian are too eager to know everything about cars too early! Hold on guys.

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 46

I read about the car in Indiancarsbike website, where they had praised the engines. But, st one point they mentioned that rear room is almost same as Fiesta Classic & 3 people cannot be seated comfortable, plus the legroom is almost same as Fiesta Classic .

It seems that Ford has forgot that it started with bigger (mid-size) cars in India (Escort, & the Ikon was bigger to my eyes). Heck... even the Koreans are making bigger cars in the same segment.

I read somewhere that the USA version of SYNC also allows control of the Zune HD player ... any idea if the Indian version is iPod only or what?

I am probably one of the few people in India to own a Zune HD I guess LOL.

Exactly. They know Hyundai would be launching the all-new Verna before the new Fiesta goes on sale. This so-called 'launch' is just to stop the Verna from running away with the initial sales. But, having said that, we have to apporeciate Ford for being so proactive and succeeding in their attempt of taking the spotlight away from the new Verna.

+1. Be it Santro, i10, i20, Accent or Verna, Hyundai has always been the jack of all trades while Ford is for people who need BMW's driving dynamics but can't afford one.

To clarify, its just an unveiling, not a launch in any sense of word even though Ford says so.

Mine is almost at the verge of fixing a final price on selling ! Now with the new launch, bargains will be hard.

Sad part is that its got a EPS as opposed to their Hydraulic unit in the Figo/Fiesta, not sure if the new Fiesta can have the same fun factor as the other 2 cars

Shaju, but, at least they could have made the car noticeably bigger at the rear to be appealing to families. Guess this is the reason why City & SX4 have been scoring better.

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 46

Let us wait and watch the variants and also prices. I guess standard Airbags + ABS is very option on all variants. Eager to see the specs of the Diesel variants. Is there any refinement?

All in all looks to be good package. Sureshot to take a TD

Cheers,

Are you sure the previous generation had Hydraulic steering ? I am driving one close to 2 years but never realized the difference, only thing I know is, I could take sharp turns with single hand as easy as breathing .

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 46

@shajufx
Yes Figo is Hydraulic, sharp turns, high speed handling, Steering response all come because of this power steering unit, which is the same one on the Fiesta (Now classic)
Just to know the difference, I tried do do a Jig (Left right) on the Etios going at 60Kmph, and there was no response at all from the steering.

Read this on indiacarbikes website that the New Fiesta has EPS.
But this is still very good I guess. Read a review by Jeremy Clarkson just now. He calls it:
Clarkson’s Verdict: Ooh, you little beauty
He was reviewing the 1.6 Fiesta UK hatchback

Perhaps 'mate', you would also like to read post #663 before commenting on my post.

Everyone has a right to their preference of where the wiper/indicator stalks should be located. I was just trying to point out that a large number of people don't mind/actually prefer it where Ford puts it!

The advice to Keep both hands on the steering wheel doesn't mean 'never take them off'. Not to offend, but kindly read my comment as it was intended to be, 'firmly tongue in cheek'.

continuing on the useless banter, its actually good to have stalks standardized across all the geographies. At the least, folks wouldnt press the wiper stalks when they actually want to use indicators when they come back from US to India

I dont think it would allow you to control the iPod because of the fact that Sync was developed by Microsoft for Ford.
