wow good job of noticing that. You are one that goes into details thoroughly.

Anyways, I got another ford fiesta road test video, This one is about the hatch back and from fifth gear which also airs on Discovery turbo.

Although the looks are different but expect every other aspect about the review to be same for the sedan.

1. Any guesses on how many variants will be launched?
2. Why does the headlamp cluster have black inserts even in top end model?
( yes i know the Thai version has them too, but it looks cheap)IIRC the Fiesta
hatch spy pics didnt have them.
3. Will the Fiesta top end 1.6TDCI price breach Vento Highline TDI levels?

1. No but i am guessing two variants for each petrol and diesel.

2. Personally i like the black inserts, they look much more awesome, Ask the fiesta 1.6S guys and you will know. Better, ask the VW polo guys as VW did not give them the Black inserts for the headlamp cluster. We all love black inserts in the polo and the fiesta 1.6S.

3. No comparison with other cars. I can only say it will have a 1.6 TDCi motor with 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque and will be as easy to drive as the 1.4 TDCi and overtaking will be a lot easier & spontaneous also.

I hope that the gen2 Fiesta in India is a worthy successor of the Fiesta Classic. Planning to TD asap, whenever the car comes to Talera Ford here.

Love the interiors and the dashboard. I guess the top end variant will carry the cruise control feature. The automatic climate control is a big miss however.

Is it that I have not looked closely, or Ford is yet to give any indication about the engine/ gearbox combos or trim levels or pricing? What is the big deal? This car is on sale abroad already, the why keep us intrigued? Prospective buyers willing to splurge around a million rupees being kept in the dark?

Talking about the new 'Fiesta', Boneham said, "This is a premium product and is the first of our new line up of eight cars. The car will be launched around July this year".

Was there at the launch with my friend. The interior quality is miles ahead of the competition and the front seats are so well bolstered, they look almost like Recaro's. Ford hasn't announced the engine specifications yet and they were adamant that they would be different from the Thai variant which means either modified 1.6 liter petrol and diesel or some new engines altogether.

Shaju, dont worry ! You just need to make sure you deal with a person who doesnt know about t-bhp ! I dont think many others would know about this launch.

Call me stupid, but im a sucker for the small things that generally go unnoticed
True - The seats are the ones which caught my attention the first! It looks so sexy!

This car deserves a powerful engine. It has the right driving dynamics, so complement it with a super BHP engine as well, on the Diesel especially.

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 46

Any particular reason the new cars ( fiesta, verna) are going the high rear way (trend started by Sx4) ? Any particular advantage to the companies ?

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

Did some digging for the New Fiesta specs (based on US specs - 2011 Ford Fiesta | View Interior Specifications | Ford.com)
Rear Legroom : 31.2 inches = 79.24800 centimeters (At normal front seat positioning i suppose)
Headroom : 37.1 inches = 94.23400 centimeters
Width : 50.6 inches = 128.52400 centimeters

Comparing to cars in same segment (numbers from autocar);

City [Class Best]
Rear Legroom (min/max) = 63 / 93 cm
Headroom = 95cm
Width = 132cm

Vento
Rear Legroom (min/max) = 66 / 85 cm
Headroom = 92cm
Width = 132cm

Verna Transform (Outgoing model)
Rear Legroom (min/max) = 62.5 / 83.5 cm
Headroom = 90cm
Width = 133cm

SX4
Rear Legroom (min/max) = 62.5/85.5 cm
Headroom = 91cm
Width = 129cm

Linea
Rear Legroom (min/max) = 65 / 86 cm
Headroom = 87cm
Width = 134cm

Fiesta Classic
Rear Legroom (min/max) = 62 / 82.5 cm
Headroom = 85.5cm
Width = 130cm

The over all dimensions maybe only slightly better than the classic model. IMO it would be somewhere between the Classic & Linea - in jist a figo ? (note that one has to look at the overall dimensions and not just the legroom or the hip room)

Ford Figo
Rear Legroom (min/max) = 64.5 / 82.5 cm
Headroom = 85.5cm
Width = 130cm

Edit : Latest pictures in team-bhp [http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attach...6-legroom.jpg] kind of echoes what I have been picturing mentally. Should be OK for 4 adults but the 5th is not welcome. Sadly the City continues to lead this point in this segment. Even cars in higher segment suffer from this problem, some worse (read Cruze, Laura)

Stratos, thanks for the pictures and the short report. It is indeed a very modern looking product from Ford.
Was there any mention of the gear-box options?

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

One thing that i personally do not like in the fiesta and a no. of cars like the polo, vento, micra, SX4 etc. is the presence of only one reverse light in the tail lamp cluster. Only the left tail lamp glows in reverse. Vision is hampered in dark areas while reversing.

However, The new fiesta has parking sensors to assist you with the same. But still i do not like only one reverse light.
