Of course, IKON has an ECU, but Mustang, when the battery is completely down, its not possible to push start the car.

Reason - ECU is shut off, and hence no ignition.

And do you have any idea, if Keyless ignition vehicles have a Key?

1.4D and 1.2P does service for Figo. Hence it does not make sense to have the Fiesta hatch with the same engine spec.

Hence the only logical thing then is the same spec as the new NFS. If that is the case, then what would Ford's take on its pricing? Would be same, if not a bit lower than NFS?

I'm not sure about the choice of motors though.

I don't think it should be a problem though. Ford, sells the Fiesta 1.4 diesel and the face-lifted Ikon with the same engine, so sharing the powerplant across the range shouldn't be an issue.

I couldn't agree with you more. They've butchered the beautiful lines of the Fiesta hatch and made it look very ungainly and disproportionate. It reminds me of the original NHC when it was first introduced.

EDIT: By the way, that's the pre-production, 'auto-show' version of the actual 3-door Fiesta, which is toned down for production.
These questions arose a couple of times already on this thread. So what Mustang replied is the hatch is going to be more expensive to build than the sedan and hence he is not sure will they even bring it here. The price which he thinks the hatch can be placed only is equivalent or higher than the sedan which may not be a good thing to do in India. And even if it comes, I guess its better to equip it with the same spec as the sedan. But with news of Figo 1.6 [petrol] doing the rounds, the Fiesta hatch loses that USP as well if Figo 1.6 is launched.

Oops.

So that doesn't sound very good now, does it.

I was really looking forward to the Fiesta hatch. In fact, I would have probably gone in for it too. How could anyone resist it? It's a fabulous looking car and should be loaded to the gills with features.

Sad that it will never see the light of day, here. But I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed. C'mon Ford, if VW can bring in the Polo, I'm sure you'll can too. One thing's for sure, I'll be the first one in Bangalore to place the order for the hatch if it comes.

True. Of all the current/previous Ford sedans in India - Escort, Ikon, Old Fiesta (now Classic), the Old Fiesta has/had the cleanest boot integration. The rear of the NFS looks a bit dis-jointed from the rest of the car, almost like a chinese rear-end job on a european hatchback.

So Ford India, please bring that beautifully proportioned Fiesta hatch to our shores. ABS and airbags standard would be nice too!

The rear looks extremely awkward. The overall side-profile looks a little packed together. Needs to be stretched a bit in design terms, to make it look better.

Generally speaking, uptil the C-pillar all is fine. And who knows, the disjoint rear has its own character. It still looks miles better than the Dzire or the NHC.

If the Ikon does have sufficient battery to make a sound when you turn the key then it will dhakka start.

When i drove the fiesta hatch at ford india, it only had the keyless entry system, but then again i never asked for the spare key.

Will beige plus black combo be offered as an option? The interiors of the car at select city walk did not appear upmarket and were more "workman like". And some plastic quality needs to be improved...even the door pads feel downmarket.

Many mags or tv shows are predicting ex show price of 7-9 for petrol. Wonder if Ford will really keep a new Fiesta version lower than SXi premium....

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

I am seeing quite a few posts mentioning that the new Fiesta looks similar to the new Hyundai Verna. Should it be the oppsite way? From what I know, the new Fiesta hatch is in the market for more than 2 years, and hence not sure who copied whom

My guess is the Fiesta hatch should be somewhere in the Honda Jazz price range (which may sound reasonable for that price because it offer much more than what Honda is offering in the Jazz).

Sorry to disagree, I personally feel that the boot integration is pretty neat, and the car look pretty handsome (but its all about personal perception). Whereas I agree on the previous generation Honda City. That was almost like a Dzire work.

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

Saw the reviews of both NFS and Verna RB in NDTV 24x7 today morning. I dont know if the guy who was reviewing is a big car-guy. However the verdict was something like this(which I m summarizing in my own words).

NFS
  • The car's a hoot to drive. The car so far known for its handling is even more better and with more power as well.
  • Interiors are amazing
  • Serious competition to Vento and City
  • New design which will seem proportionate for a sedan
  • Competitive pricing(did not reveal the price though)
  • Pretty good mileage too(TDCi??)
So that means NFS has and edge over Verna RB, Vento and City.

PS: I have put the Verna RB's review by NDTV 24x7 in the respective topic

^ Yes, That is a good summary, and did he comment on the rear seat space?

At least now the people will be satisfied that the boot-job is not shabbily done.

I especially love the voice controls in the car, they are very responsive and also a class first.

Sorry mate. I think I missed that part as I was late to that show by 10-12 mins :(

Also,I think they were keeping the old fiesta in mind when they reviewed NFS and a guy called Nigel Wark(Executive Director) also spoke on how they are trying to position NFS in C Segment(City, Vento etc) and at the same time provide features that are available in a segment above but non existent in C segment.

I know and these things have already been discussed(& known) in this forum but I m summarizing what was shown. Sorry about that

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

I was just watching a video in NDTV and this guy says we are getting a 1.4L Diesel ! Whats all these mess I dont understand. And I seriously hope we get the 1.6L engine. They also report that the hatch might make it to India by Mid 2012. Prices quoted as 7-9L ex showroom for Petrol and 8-10 ex showroom for Diesel. They say that there are no stripped down version / base version and all models are equipped with all features !! So 3 variants, 1.6L petrol manual, 1.6L petrol Auto & 1,4L Diesel manual is what they claim to be on offer.

YouTube - ndtv's Channel

Edit: Two features that I am eagerly looking at having in my next car are ACC & Cruise control. I know many people think that cruise control is not something very useful in India - but what I have realised in my highway drives are, this can help you a lot !!

Hope Ford will continue the pricing strategy used for Figo, which makes it the best value for money in that segment.
