Ford To Launch 2011 Fiesta With Automatic Transmission

Ford will launch the new 2011 Fiesta with automatic transmission. This will be the first Fiesta in India to sport an AT gearbox. The company has been extensively testing the car to ensure a hassle free ownership experience for its customers. The automatic Fiesta will cost close to Rs. 70,000/- more than the manual variant. Both petrol and diesel versions will come in automatic for the Titanium variant. The 2011 Fiesta will be launched in July, with deliveries commencing immediately.
Can Ford manage to price ex-showroom of diesel auto within Rs.10L? That would bring a huge gap in on-road prices when Compared to Verna D auto.

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

The new Ford Fiesta Automatic is reviewed by Carpoint Australia, & below is the link to the same:

Ford Fiesta Powershift

The auto is generally rated good by the reviewers in the city & the ride is good even, except some body roll & understeer (refer last line of 7 para of the article).
Interestingly the reviewer have failed to comment on the rear seat space, & the boot is rated 430 litres, smaller than most of the competitors (Dzire ZXI = 440 litres, City = 500 litres, Manza = 460 litres, Etios = 600 litres, Verito/ Logan = 510 litres). Not sure about ANHV, though.

There is no updates on the Ford website atleast which means the news may be probably from the rumour mills.
@Mustang, can you confirm this please.

If it is confirmed then the sub 10L is going to see some fierce battles.

BTW the Fiesta frenzy is already in its 99th page.

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

Ford seems to have pulled a joker out of its hat and launched new 1.5 Petrol and Diesel engines.

ACI editor Hormazd Sorabjee tweeted the following a little while earlier:
Quote:
New Fiesta launched with 1.5 110PS petrol and 1.5 91PS diesel. These engines a global first for Ford
Ford claims class leading fuel economy for Fiesta. 17kpl for 1.5 petrol and 23.5kpl for 1.5 diesel. ARAI figures. Ford going for top end of mid-size market with fully loaded Fiesta. Rs.10 lakh plus. Goes head-on with Verna 1.6 and Vento Highline
17 kmpl for Petrol, 23.5 kmpl for diesel. But price is still not announced. Top-end is "likely" to be around Rs. 10 lakhs!
Autocar India now has an article about it as well http://www.autocarindia.com/news/all...-2011-unveiled

Wow, all new engines for the fiesta? Now no one would have ever tested these new mills. Ford surprised everyone with this now! Cool move. But pricing doesn't seem to be that impressive though!

New Ford Fiesta

Quote:
We believed all along that the Fiesta will get a pair of 1.6-liter engines, but that’s not the truth. Both engines will displace 1.5 liters. The Fiesta TDCi (diesel) will produce 90bhp power and 204Nm torque and return 23.5 kmpl. The Duratec Ti-VCT engine produces 108bhp power and 140Nm of torque returning 17kmpl. Fuel economy figures are ARAI approved.
What would be the impact on engine change? Prices in excess of Rs.10L

Hmmm, VENTO prices got hiked by another 20-25k, but the waiting period is the real killer. Looks like have to change my queue to Verna counter unless the TD's here at TBHP puts it ahead of Vento

Edit: As a part of marketing strategy, will they let the news float around on prices (Rs.10L) & price it much lower???

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

Below are the tweets from Siddharth Patnakar NDTV Auto.
  • New Fiesta TDCi- 90bhp, 204Nm 23.5kmpl acc to ARAI. Fiesta Ti-VCT- 108bhp, 140Nm, 17kmpl
  • Fiesta segment firsts which we talked about earlier too- voice controlled music, phone, climate control. Cruise control also offered.
  • Expect fully loaded Fiesta At about the 10lakh mark. But official price only at launch. India is 6th market to get Fiesta.
  • Ford claims 44% lower costs on servicing, 40% lower on maintenance, 59% lowr on accident repair than big rival. Am guessing that's City!
  • Ford claims overall lowest cost of Ownership on the new Fiesta.
What a mileage they are offering ! Hope Ford keeps the price VFM like the recent launches. And the mileage coupled with the driver oriented nature is tempting me !!

I guess 10L for the top end still should be a good price, a reduction in price should be sweeter!

I guess the new 1.5 L engine will find its way to FIGO. It will still qualify for excise benefit as well.

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

Wow, they managed to keep the engine specs under wraps for such a long time by letting everyone think of 1.6l engines as the de-facto option.

Ford is keen not to miss out on the fuel efficiency image created by the current 1.4l TDCi. Now when will they announce the prices...

Mustang earlier talked about the power & smoothness of the engine. Was he driving the 1.6l or 1.5l thinking it to be 1.6??

MODS: There seem to be a media drive day after tomorrow. Hope T-bhp is also there, and hope to see the test drive report soon

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

The ACI report says that the petrol is a down sized version of the 1.6 in the earlier Fiesta, now with variable camshaft timing and the 1.5 TDCi is an updated version of the earlier 1.4 TDCi with an added inter cooler . The 1500cc engines might have a slight edge in terms of mileage on the 1.6 engines discussed earlier for the Fiesta.

That 1.5 TDCi better be below the 1500cc mark, in which case it should find its way into the Figo V2 and also the Fiesta hatch, (the jury is still out on the length of the Fiesta hatch -> ie., >4 metres or not) So we'll have to wait and watch...

1.5L?
Cant digest till I see it in the official site.

So looks like none of the engines specially Diesel will do justice to the chasis and suspension.

Any way will keep my eyes on the 1.5L Figo Diesel.

Ford would surprise everyone with their 1.5 Litre engines. I just hope the new engines (especially the TDCi) is more powerful to drive than the existing 1.4 litre TDCi. I hope someday Ford would plonk a 2 L TDCi under the hood of the New Fiesta.

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

I have got this information around 3 weeks back when I went for servicing my ford ikon 1.6. The servicing manager told me they went for training of new ford fiesta and the engines were 1.5 for both petrol and diesel. I haven't believed him at that time as ford has already showcased 1.6 TDCi in Delhi, also ford don't have any 1.5 L diesel or petrol globally. I thought he is wrong or some mistake happened in his understanding. That is the main reason I haven't posted this information in Team Bhp earlier.
