Ford Fiesta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thanks mate. Looks sure can be deceptive.

Now taking this a little further:

Dimension measured - Fiesta - Verna
Width - 1,722 - 1700
Wheelbase - 2,489 - 2,570
Length - 4,409 - 4370
Height - 1,473 - 1475

The height difference is negligible. Wheelbase is significantly more in the Verna, which should translate to more legroom. However, the Fiesta is longer.

Anyone with an idea about car design
may want to explain why would a car with a longer wheelbase be shorter on the whole? It is only about boot size and stylistic concerns or is it more to do with the ride and handling of the car?

Earlier it was first week of June & then first week of July & now July 6-11, 2011. As mentioned elsewhere, Ford has played it very well. Definitely I would have not waited for this car, if i knew that launch is 2 months away during the launch of ANHV

Well, that’s the whole story. I am mighty impressed with the strategy. Keep the interest on by a teaser, and potentially delay the decision making in favour of competition. And to their advantage, none of the reviews so far have tarnished the car. Slight gripe maybe on the downsizing of the engine, and also a bit about the back profile.

I will be quite surprised if that’s the case. Only moderators can answer this. If I remember correctly, they even had mentioned Team-BHP on the Figo website - in the accolades section (something like “voted as Team-BHP car of the year”)

A longer wheelbase with a shorter overall lenght results in smaller overhang. This is ideally better as it supposed to result in lesser centrifugal forces during cornering thus aiding handling. The picture below explains the case of the Fiesta and the Verna.

I Guess we can all wait.
I got to read a few reviews, but most of them are boring.
They all say the same:
It is slightly underpowered than the City.
Excellent handling. 1.5 engine not enough to test the handling characteristics. 1.5 diesel not as responsive as the 1.4
And then about all those gadgets.

I mean, we knew all of these, these are straight out of the specs. The Journos have not had enough time on this car probably to make detailed observations, or probably all of them met and came to a single conclusion

We can all wait for a little longer to have our own review from a longer term car (Say 1 week of driving the Fiesta). Thats what I am waiting for

Where did you get that figure for length from?? That is definitely not right. The new Fiesta has a length of 4291 mm (as per Ford Thailand website). Ive posted the comparison some time back in my post here - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post2362146

re: New Ford Fiesta Unveiled : Report & Pics - Page 120

If the production is confirmed to have begin/will begin, whats keeping the Ford guys from announcing the prices. Are they waiting for some auspicious muhurat or still the prices are being thought over considering the recent Honda price cuts?

The way the customers are made to wait for the prices, I hope they dont lose the interest generated for the car.

Absolutely right.

I have been checking out the Verna and Vento recently.
Verna diesel is on a 5-6 month wait, so it is off my list.
Vento can be delivered within 30-35 days depending on the colour choice.

If I do not get an idea of an approximate delivery date within the next few days, I would definitely like to explore other options.

The new Fiesta has a length of 4409mm. I guess Fiesta Classic's length is 4291mm.

5-6 months of waiting period is huge. But 30-35 days for Vento is pretty good. Looks like they’re away from the days of infinite delivery delays.

In a way, what ford is doing could be right – Launch it at a time when they can ensure that all the orders can be cleared with minimum waiting period.

Again where do you get that figure of 4409 from? If you read the post and to the one i linked to, the Ford Thailand website says that the new Fiesta is 4291 mm, the old one is 4282 mm.
