I highly doubt if this is true and based on facts. Even if their end in inevitible, the manufacturers will surely make some changes in the power plant to make them BS IV compliant. Was shocked to see the Skoda cars there!

But I have a question, how can government stop people from buying cars from the tier 2 cities, towns and then running them in chennai.
For e.g. I can always buy a car from chengalput and run it in chennai. All I have to do is get soem address proof for Chengalput, which I guess is very easy to pretend these days.

Why is Getz in the picture as I believe the production was discontinued way back in Summer '09. Correct me if I'm wrong.

But govt. babus already use a lot of ikon/fiesta/accent/indigo these days.

@tsk13

I guess getz Diesel was discontinued, not the petrol models.

Should the Mahindra Bolero and Lancer not be in the list as well or have they been made BS-4 compliant already ?

Forget the emissino part. Omni should be banned solely because its not safe for front seat passengers.

What about the Alto? Is it getting a new engine or the old one is being upgraded to Euro IV?

Guys only the specific variants of the cars mentioned in List will be discontinued & not the entire model atleast not for all cars e.g. the 1.3 petrol from Ikon will be discontinued but not the Diesel, even for.

Also its only the 13 cities where the companies wont be able to sell these models.

Nope. After 1st April, manufacturers cannot sell their cars in these cities unless they are BSIV compliant. They can however sell this stock in the rest of the country.

I am quite surprised as with everyone else about the Fabia. But for sure. an upgrade to the Skoda Octi is already on its way. But none the less it is stilll an amazing.

Also, I dont think Ford will axe the car. Apart from the Fiesta, this is the only other car that is keeping the company alive
