Any news on the Diesels ?

To answer your first question , yes it is the same engine as in the z4 & about the diesels ,the news is that they would be launched at a later date than the petrols. The top of the line variant would be the 530D with 245hp and 540NM torque...would be followed by the 525d with 215 hp ( i think) and finally the 4 cyl 520d with 184hp. The 530d is expected to be prized slightly above the 535i ,but only just. Where the 535i sports timings of 6.1secs to 100kph with 97 octane fuel, the 530d would take a slightly higher 6.3secs and in the midrange from 140-180kph, the 535i takes 5.7secs and the 530d takes ....gulp!...5.0secs
Also unlike the e60, the f10 line up in India is expected to sport 17 inch alloys, 535i and 530d INCLUDED. One can easily upgrade to 18s, but the stocks offered with the car would be 17s.

Hey nice scoop raja! I find its design quite conservative. More Audi-ish than BMW. But I think its a good thing. Its an executive sedan. Its not supposed to shout out, but rather merge in. The alloys are a nice touch!

Great work Raja. The new 5 looks way more understated from the front than the previous gen, but it really looks a class apart from the side. The lines play well along the length of the car. I remember watching a preview on the "car & bike show" on ndtv, car looked delicious there! Interiors top-notch as always

Man, the accessories list is exhaustive and I never knew that one could choose from so many designs of the alloy wheels! The transparent rear lights are spectacular! Looks like one of those cars from Fast and the Furious

Good Catch Raja

You are right the front & the rear look very similar to the new/current 7 series.

The current 530d comes with 18"ers which look stunning, then why 17" on the F10 530d , n also overpricing ? Is it that they are focussing on ride comfort more ??

Trust BMW to make a newer model uglier than the previous generation. They just the same thing to the 5series that they'd done to the 7series before Chris Bangle bungled it.

The 5-series was the best looking (among the 1,3,5 and 7 series) and they have gone ahead and mucked it up. Unbelievable.

Hoe true! Those menacing 'eyebrow' driving lamps up front will sorely be missed. This one on the other hand will get lost in a crowd of clinically grey German luxo barges.

1 of the main reasons for the replacement is , the ride quality of the f10 has improved by leaps and bounds compared to the e60. Where the e60 was almost pathetic in ride quality compared to rivals, testers claim the f10 to have a ride quality very close to the w212 e class....all this with the Beemer's sportiness and supreme agility maintained and at its benchmark !!! So they might have considered offering 17 inchers along with all models of the f10 for even enhanced ride quality. Besides, a wide range of alloy designs would be offered and many of them would be 18 inchers as well, upgrading would be no big deal. Infact i would myself be upgrading to 18s the day i buy the f10

at least the designers kids should have told them that the new styling direction is headed the wrong way.
