BMW 5-Series (F10) in Pune (Pictures)

Note from Mod : A detailed Test Report of the F10 BMW 525d has been uploaded here. Please continue the discussion over on the review thread. This thread is closed.

A new 5-Series came to my resident complex today. There was only the driver present. All I could get out of him was that this was the petrol version. BMW badges were concealed. Car was running on 8x17 Alloys.

The following are my personal opinions:
Car looked good, but I was expecting it to stand out?
As I walked towards it from far away, I was thinking is it a 3? or 5? or 7?
Rear legroom is not as good as E-Class. Interior build quality excellent (as expected).
I feel this car is screaming out for some form of bodykit to give it some presence.

Enjoy

Nice pics buddy, but it doesn't look appealing to me. It looks like a scaled down 7 series. IMO, it doesn't have that woww factor that the prev gen 5 series had.

Awesome scoop there! Looks good from the inside however the exteriors look more understated than before.
(There should be TeamBHP water-marks on those pics)

Great scoop, thanks for the pix.

The car to be launched first will be the 535i with the N55 turbocharged (single turbo) in line 6 cylinder direct injection gasoline engine with 2979 cc, 306 bhp @5800rpm and 400 nm torque @1200-5000 rpm.

Projected pricing will be approx 55-58 lakh, initial lots are expected to be CBU and in typical BMW fashion, will be loaded with all bells and whistles including active rear wheel steering, nightvision etc.

The car will have a newly developed electrically assisted power steering and an 8 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifts.
Expected to be launched in end-july/august, and it may come in 535i and 535i highline variants.
Cheaper 4 cylinder engines will follow later.

Looks nice, thanks for the pics man!

Doesn't have the 'in your face' angry look the previous gen had though - this one is toned down a lot!

They took out the character the last 5 generated. They should have improved on it rather than retreat totally. Hard to still convince myself. If I could buy 5 of these, I would have broken the front of one with a hammer. No more a youngster chap's sedan choice.

It's good to some. It's just good. Not more.

EDIT: I know everything other than the front design is so convincing.

You forgot to take a pic of the rear, which looks too similar to the 3-series. Atleast the old 5 had a 'gangster' look. This car is too derivative.

Probably an OBD2 port or similar for diagnostic equipment to connect to. If it has arrived for ARAI testing, this would be necessary.

Nice find dude, it might be for homologation at ARAI, my dealer friend from Cochin told me that the new 5 will hit market within couple of months.

would have liked to see more pics from the front of the grill from a distance. Also the GC seems less? Reminds me of the civic (shudder). Perhaps wider tires will help there.

Nice car but as everybody has mentioned, it doesnt s tand out like the previous version. I wish Chris Bangle stayed and did his magic with the styling. The previous version still appeals a lot to me than this one. This is a scaled down 7-Series and thats about it.
