^^ Haha sorry was that not obvious? Not even photoshopped, it was a shoddy MSPaint job. Only the MH42 is authentic.

Few friends came over for dinner the other day and were urging me to put my VW logos back on. They changed their mind when I told them it costs 4K for a replacement set!

Noop, you know the actual manufacturing costs of these logos, right? These company wallahs are looting us left, right and center.
I have decided, I aint buying my logos from the authorized SC's any more.

P.S: Ebay seems to have genuine stuff for less than half the price. Thinking of sourcing a few from them.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

A few weeks back on a Sunday afternoon when I was standing on my home's balcony, I found two boys aged about 10 or so walking on the street suspiciously. Then, my curiosity increased and started following their movements. They stopped in front of an apartment next door near a Santro. While one boy was looking all around, the other went near the front grill logo and started fiddling it with a screw-driver. When I was about to go down and catch them red-handed, the first boy saw me and alerted the other. Immediately, he said 'Sorry uncle' and ran away from my street! I don't know when they would return and complete their unfinished task.

Guys, just wondering if installing touch-sensitive alarm helps in prevention of logo theft?
If anyone has experience on this, please share the same.

get a few different ones, maybe just to see if a VW logo fits the Laura.
By the way, do they also do other cheeky designs, maybe that of a garlic?!

Gosh, I need to leave now before I give any more 'brilliant' suggestions!

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

This menace has moved down South to Bangalore, I have noticed that couple of Fiesta’s parked in my apartment had their front logo’s missing. Quite sad state of affairs, I now fear to leave my vehicle in unattended parking lots.

My latest finding, a ripped off Superb on Sat evening while going home.

Don't know how this menace is going to stop or reduce at least.

One way to reduce this menace is to design and manufacture logos in such way that they get broken if removed in an incorrect manner (like inserting screwdrivers). If the thiefs get broken logos in their hands, their interest will die down.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

This is a Polo in my building, with logos freshly replaced.

See how the thief has gouged out the previous logo with screwdriver and damaged the paint?

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

^^This morning on my way to work saw another auto with a BMW logo at the rear. It looked genuine and I felt sorry for the guy from whose car it must have been flicked.

I am not saying the auto driver flicked it, perhaps bought it from someone who did.

I guess with all the other issues around, this one is not even up on anyone's radar.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

To be honest, nowadays it doesnt even matter to me if my car is logo less. Its been close to 10 months that my car has been logoless (at the back). Now, I am so used to it that if I fix a logo, I might find something wrong with the way the car looks .

Noop: Same's the case with my car too. The thief couldnt even do a proper job. That guy needs more training, IMO.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

The one who looted the logos of my Punto did a professional job . No sign of a single scratch on front and rear. Recently I put new logos and they are still on the car. Lets see how long they stay on the car.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Companies must replace logos free of charge after all they make them easily removable . This will prevent stealing when logos are replaced for free .
