I've lost my Hyundai rear logo too. Never thought that someone would go to the trouble of stealing it. Christ, its only a Hyundai logo, thought it must have fallen off somewhere. I can understand stealing a three pointed star, even a Honda, but a Hyundai??? Some one must be desperate.

I have seen mostly Skoda, new Fiat Palio cars and very recently a VW Jetta with out their rare logo. I was wondering that may be these European companies spend more time to the development of the front part (engine and other things under the bonnet), thus they could not spent enough time to look at the behind for giving a better fixing material for logos.
Now I got the real reason. I guess the logos of these cars are fixed in to two holes by some rubber seal, because after removing rare logo you can see two holes, and thus easy to remove with a screw driver. Where as cars like in Maruti, Tata, Hyundai the the logo is pasted with adhesive, thus little difficult to remove. God knows what to do with these miscraent boys!

I have seen many Tata Safar on road ! The "i" seems to fall off the first.
I guess Safar means "journey" in hindi ?!

My colleague's merc logo (back one) got stolen today from inside the worli police station premises! Can you believe that? we created a big furore over it tonight... Let's see what happens...

@Blue Thunder, safar used to make me suffer, cause i am very particular about everything, so everytime i had to spend a couple of hundred bucks to replace the lettering! Then i got cheesed off and sold the car!

I read in the Mumbai Mirror of how the cops caught a couple of school kids red handed. They had screw drivers et all in their bags and flicked badges on the way to school!

One query from my side is that who are the people who buy such stolen monograms? is there a big market for such stolen things? And it is surprising that school kids are involved in the thefts. My friends toyota corolla's monogram was stolen from sion. But generally nobody lodges a police complaint for such things and that is the reason the thefts are increasing.

I guess Renault is the easiest to remove. Loads of Meru cabs have them missing these days.

The skoda and BMW badges come with a good quality double-sided tape at the back to stick the badges just like Maruti, hyundai etc.. the only difference is because the hyundai and maruti badges are thin with spaces in between, they need to be removed a little carefully while skoda badges can be removed with brute force and its not like they aren't getting stolen either.

Update: I had stuck both the front and rear badges new after removing the tape and putting in araldite between the body and badge, even then someone attempted to remove them was unsuccessful with the rear and there are light screwdriver marks around it, in the front however he was successful and its gone, I have complained at both the dadar and shivaji park police stations, the FIR is lodged at Shivaji park, where the officer told me that they caught some kids in one of the lanes with 4 BMW badges and a number of other smaller ones. Dadar police said some car-owner caught a badge thief (16 yrs old) opp Rachana sansad, they spoke to his parents and then left him, So we now know its definitely children all over, so keep a look at children around your car.

ANHC Logo Flicked

Feb 1st: I had parked the car on Balchandra Road Matunga, outside my in-laws place. After 3-4 hours, when I was back, someone had used a screw driver and flicked it. It has left me with in such a sour mood that I was cursing everyone on way.

I had read about this theft but didnt think too much until now. :(

BMW rear badge gone

I seen a 5 series BMW on my way to pune. Its rear BMW badge is gone and in its place the glue has gone black. Somebody has stolen its identity aka Badge.

IMO these badges are in high demand with Auto rickshaws.

One rick i have seen is having an AMG logo in mumbai

Logo-robbing school kids under scanner

Todays DNA Mumbai reported this news:

Logo-robbing school kids under scanner

After recent cases of schoolchildren being allegedly involved in stealing logos of luxury vehicles, police officials in the south region have started visiting schools in their jurisdiction. They have also been instructed to interact with the parent-teacher associations and alert them about this new trend.
"There have been some cases of school-going children being found stealing logos of high-end cars," confirmed additional commissioner of police (South Region), K Venkatesham. He added that the police inspectors (community) from all the sixteen police stations in the south region have been asked to interact with the parent-teacher associations of the schools in their jurisdiction regarding this disturbing trend.
"The children may be indulging in this crime for pocket money or excitement, but it's an offence. The purpose of our drive is to ensure that the parents guide and prevent their wards from getting involved in such criminal acts," Venkatesham said.
"If a school boy who gets Rs20 as pocket money per day comes home with an expensive mobile phone or is shopping worth thousands without taking money from parents, then the parents should take note of it and try to learn the truth," said a police official.

In my vicinity, they stole a VolksW logo from a old model along with Spark, Honda, Hyundai. These theives have not even spared TATA logo

Damn i'm scared to park my car outside a society anywhere in mumbai/navi mumbai!!

My Suzuki Logo (S-Type) gone from my swift first time almost 2 months back, later second time on 4th day of replacing it. I have seen many cars in my locality without logo.

Okay , this is in Bangalore.

Worst part is that during second time, since the adhesive was strong, they curved out logo with screw driver, leaving deep scratches on the hatchback door :-(

Decided not to replace the logo any more.

regards,
-manju
