Remember gold thief also sells it to some shop to convert it to money.

There was an article in Pune Times last week about the issue. So local Police being aware is a given. Only thing is, they find this petty theft and give it a blind eye.

Secondly, the guys stealing it, do their work either late in the night (at least in my case) or from a crowded area, making it next to impossible to catch them. Whatever they do, its a pain to the owners, and its we at the end who suffer.

- Nor will we price them cheaper!

Instead of a 500 word email, they could have simply said "Sorry, it's out of our control". Corporates I tell ya!

I paid my debt to the society and made a change

Our Civic's rear Honda logo was ripped off last week. The theft occurred inside the apartment premises during the night. Security said "sab ka ho raha hai" (everyone is getting the same treatment).

Some consolation!

So instead of purchasing one more, decided to apply a cheesy sticker on the spot. Here is a picture. Wish I was not so clumsy when applying the sticker, it is slightly bent towards the right.

Dude, it looks awful, seriously. It's spoiling the looks of your Civic. Stick some subtle sticker of a Honda logo instead.

Oh, and is your front logo intact?

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

My Fusion's Blue Oval on the back was stolen on 31st Jan 2011, when i had parked it in the VIP parking at Chennai Trade Centre. The car suddenly looks very old. I hate the guys who did it.

But ever since that day, i have spotted a number of cars with missing Logos.

I am seeing many Maruti Suzuki logos getting stolen lately. Earlier it was only expensive brands but now I guess these guys are stealing whatever they see.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

I saw a BMW 7 series (one that I see quite regularly) with its logo missing at the back. I will check the front logo when I see it the next time. I heard the BMW logo costs something like Rs. 28000. Is this true?

And they have started stealing Maruti logos too? They should not be very expensive. But how many times will we replace them?

Are these logos now available as "pre-owned" like the ORVM?

One way to prevent the theft is to slightly disfigure your logos. That will look bad, but will be better than having no logos at all.

Adding myself to the list. someone tried to flick the front logo from my ikon, however in this process, the oval blue sticker got ripped and the base is still stuck to the grill.

it looks equally bad though

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Yesterday, I spotted A yellow Micra with No Logo at the back, while going to Shirdi ( From Pune)in the morning. I was at the back of the car in the Toll gate line.
After a few mins, some how managed to overtake it to see the front and found the front Logo was too missing. I my self felt very sad for a moment. The beauty of the car all of a sudden became very dull.
I can understand how sad the owner would be.
Couldn't capture the pics as Traffic Cops were all over.

These days I see a Red Polo with both logos missing. The rear one too!! Not sure if the rear one can be easily removed as its used to open the rear hatch.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

It will be a good idea for an entrepreneur to start manufacturing logo stickers , something similar to on an Alto. Once these type of products come out at a cheap prices it will surely kill the demand for stolen logos.

Alternatively people should stop replacing stolen logos in protest, let see who will buy the stolen logos. It is a simple demand supply situation as long as there is an underline demand for a stolen stuff it incentives theft.

No demand so no money so no theft.

Maybe TBHP can do it. I would love to replace the cheesy sticker (pic above) with a TBHP sticker.

Someone stole the front maruti logo of my friend's 1st generation Wagon R ! I also spotted an E60 5 series with tape stuck all over the front and rear logos so that no one could steal it.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Well, Nissan too joins the logo less parade. But know what? Both logos are made of hard plastic with silver coating which will peel off and crack easily if you try to use a screw driver to pry them out! I discovered that when I tried to remove the logo half broken rear logo on my car.

Now who do I laugh at? Nissan for making plastic logos or at the thief who after pinching them off, finds that the logos will fetch next to none value in the market!

Whats the silver lining in all this? Being made of plastic, they cost only 325 (front) and 307 (rear)!! $$$ saved
