Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

My Octavia rear logo was stolen sometime ago.

Some automobile shops at the Swargate circle sell duplicate logos. The Skoda one is available for Rs.180 and possibly duplicate logos of other makes also could be purchased. The Skoda logo looks similar to the original, but does not have the 2 plastic lugs to position the logo in position.

I did not buy it.....better to wait until this logo stealing craze (among some Punites) subsides !

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Yesterday I saw couple of Skoda Laura's with plastic logo's at their back in SahakaarNagar area. They seemed like sticker logo's but they were so perfect that unless you pay attention to their thickness you would never notice it. I bet if one will be able to spot the difference by casual glance from 10+ feet.

I am thinking of taking off my Honda City Logos myself and keeping it in a Safe Deposit Locker! That way I get to deny the theives the joy of stealing my Logos!

Captain, I think the AHNC is a stick-on type logo. You can (in fact MUST!) debadge your ride to protect yourself from the horror of someone prying them off that all of here on this thread have suffered through!

Wondering if Insurance picks the tab . I have recently seen a new VW Vento during a team bhp meet at Pune without the logo. I felt sick!

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Earlier this week in Pune, I saw a VW Vento with the rear logo stolen AND the thief had tried to steal the word 'VENTO' as well but had failed. There were scratch marks and what looked like screwdriver marks on the bootlid. It will probably be very expensive for the owner the have the bootlid repaired and repainted.

Leave only cars, these guys didn't spare my bike also. I have a Yamaha Fz-16 and there is a small round Yamaha monogram just above the rear light at the tail of the bike. Don't know what the heck they are trying to do by stealing that?

Well was checking out ebay and look what I found,
eBay India: Original Skoda Car Logo (item 160561235278 end time 26-Mar-2011 16:35:36 IST)

How do you know if this logo is stolen or not?, anyways any one missing a skoda logo out there, here's a sweet deal for you

Well it says Item Condition is "Used".
If its not stolen then why will some one debadge his own vehicle and sell the logo on ebay??
Or IMO the other possibility could be these logos could be of some total loss / accident case / scrapped vehicle parts.

Guys, got my new blue oval fixed today at MPL Ford. It cost me 400 bucks, but the car looked many years younger. I hope it does not get stolen again. As per the SA, it is a clip-on type, but I remember seeing two strong double sided tapes holding the logo in its place.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

^^ You could have waited for this storm of monogram theft to subside among the thieves of Pune.
Wishing you luck.

BTW why Pune only? Are they stealing to sell in Mumbai?

I feel, primary and high school authorities should do a random check of students school bags. Do you guys think this would work?

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

I counted more than 6 cars today with Missing logos.
From the humble 800 , to the Merc C-class. This includes cars belonging to 2 bhpians as well.
I also think the idea of random bag checks by school authorities should work. Especially if it is followed by a public dressing down.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Any theft is sick. And this one particularly is. To what levels people of this country will stoop to make money. This is similar to puncture shop guys littering the roads nearby with screws and nails to get some tyres punctured and instant business.
