Ford is thinking about a smaller car than the figo does that imply that we would be getting a car based on the Ford Start concept which would be shown at the Beijing Motor show.It would have a 1.0 litre eco boost engine and having a small car without producing in India seems unprofitable as India is too good a market for small cars to ignore.

Makes sense for Ford to have another volume spinner in the A segment or the entry level segment. However, to do that, they would need to invest in expanding the current network for the sales, service and spares to ensure they will be able to handle volumes of about 12-15K per month.

Also this one to materialize and to hit the roads will at least take 12-15 months.

if a car is planned to release that is no great/different from the existing cars, with high spares, then whats the point?
Kudos to FIGO that is trying to stand by the rest of the best diesel hatches in india today attracting the middle man budget. Keeping apart few problems people already reported, one cannot expect a car satisfies all the requirements though.

If you are referring to the Ford MD's interview that was published yesterday, he said they are working on another small car but he never said it was going to be smaller than the Figo. There is a very good possibility that the new small car he is talking about is the all new Fiesta hatch. Mustang mentioned this in another thread as well.

Ford Start is a concept car that will be unvieled in Beijing Auto show with 1.0 Lt eco-boost engine (3 cylinders).
