You missed a feature that's quite important as well. 6 airbags. I wonder at what price Skoda is going to launch the YETI but between 11L and 16L for the different variants, and Skoda might see some success.

Initially, The Yeti is coming in two variants, Ambiente and Elegence.

Standard equipment on Ambiente-

• Full time AWD with LSD.
• Leather upholstery.
• Leather steering, gear knob and handbrake.
• Parktronic.
• ESP with TCS, ABS and Electronic differential lock.
• A holder clutch.
• Twin airbags.

Additional equipment on Elegance-

• Auto dimming external rear view mirrors.
• Off road assistance which includes special versions of ABS, Traction Control, rear differential lock, hill descent control etc.

I wish they had plans to price it more sensibly (read: base version= Classic; barebone) at 12L on road Ggn. I would have bought one on day one! I would have also been prepared to take a chance with Skoda A.S.S as well

At 15, it will way over my budget.

Leaving the price aside, I have no doubts that this will be crackerjack; which ever way you look at it (only thing it loses out is road presence)

It is unlikely to start at 11L. It could be 15 L ex-showroom for Ambiente and 17-18 L ex-showroom for the Elegance.

I am not sure about the AWD thing. I read contradicting reports. They say it is an AWD but also say it drives like a FWD in normal situations with 95% of the torque going to front wheel, until slip is detected.
Does it have LSD? Or it some kind of LSD like (electronically)simulation using selective braking?
Rear differential lock also seem to be something which gets applied along with many settings when you put to to 'off road' mode

DSG would have made sense for Elegance, with that kind of pricing.

According to some sources the launch is expected near Diwali and prices are estimated to be around Skoda Laura. althought he top end model is expected to be around 17 lakhs.

Actually it is very close to Tuscon and GV in length.
Make it 4.5 meters, it will be as large as CRV or X-Trail (and as expensive).
But looking at the short overhang at the rear, 10 cms could have made it look more balanced and added useful luggage space.

I am sorry if this question has been asked/answered already on this long thread. Does anyone know for sure what kind of 4x4 system the car has? Is it like the Honda CRV where the drive goes to the other axle, automatically, but only when the normally driven wheels start slipping and not until then ( not so effective that, except as a marketing feature)? Or does it also have a full time 4x4 option where drive goes to both axles, regardless of tyre traction, in a fixed split of available power/torque? And in that case does it have a center differential to allow for using that feature on good roads as well?
I have my doubts if there is an option to lock the center differential, that would take it into an off road category which I suspect it is not supposed to be by design, but I am not able to figure out what kind of 4x4 system it has, hence the question.

That would not help. They would also need to reduce the engine capacity to under 1.5 litres. Either way, lets wait for the mini xylo to launch to really see the potential of small suvs

Exactly my friend.
When you really want to play 'big' in a country, you have to change yourself to fit with the norms of that country.
Less than 4m (hardly 20 cms off) and getting the engines in sizes that is the norm here (1.2, 1.4) can help them get to far better pricing !

TSI engines require high octane fuel,95 ron.I guess thats why i dont think it will be introduced here.
