NO standard alloy wheels from now on in Audi A4 1.8P, 2.0P and 2.0 TDI

Just got this latest brochure of the Indian market audi A4 (valid from april 2010 printed in India) and while reading across the specifications, came across this:

Audi A4 1.8 TFSI, 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI are no longer coming with alloy wheels as standard, instead, steel wheels with full wheel covers are provided.

How come?

Is there any price correction? If not, shame on Audi.

This is probably a feeble move to match up to price cuts on the BMW 320D CE & Merc C class !!

So now we will see Audis with varied after market alloys !! That is both "good & bad"

Sounds wierd or does it ?

Cheers

Thats a shame.

I honestly feel Audi should be a role model for other premium car manufacturers here in India.

Such a decision would , in my opinion, make the car feel less premium and special.

Seems that Audi is under the impression that someone who can afford to buy a multi-million rupee car is a born idiot?

Thats a shame !

Wow! that is truly a shame. Have they released any information on the prices? The stripped down Audi's maybe cheaper? Audi is bound to feel the heat with Corporate Editions of Merc and BMW.

Reminds me of the W203 C180 Classic, that also offered steel wheels with wheel covers bearing that huge three pointed star! Its really disheartening to see Audi coming up with something like that almost a decade down the line.

How can they strip a premium segment car of one of the basic equipment which are now becoming standard on smaller cars.
Whats the next thing, no body colored bumpers and no rear defogger??
Audi better have a good enough reason which is hard for a lot of us to see.

It proves that in every company, there are few decision makers who are not actually worthy of their post. This business decision will only result in increased customer cost (as every customer will buy alloys) and sheer wastage of all steel wheels sold by Audi.

So even babus of MNC's are no better than our sarkari babus.

Any car or a bike without alloys looks horrible and not worth looking at. Hope someone at Audi India is reading these posts and will take corrective action. Not that A4 looked very appealing in anyway except its V6 diesel engine one , nevertheless, steel rims will make it look worse.

This is a really bad move by Audi. People who buy these cars are not going to go around hunting for alloy wheels and prefer having them as standard. This is the main reason why BMW and Merc. have retained alloy wheels in their entry level models.

Is this news confirmed yet? Is Audi providing any optional alloys with this 'new' model? Any idea about pricing?
